Ok first things first!

My laptop is bad, it shuts down whenever i play any game and its just broken: since this is the second laptop that lets me down in 2 years I wanted to switch to more serious stuff.

So help me out with this small debate: whats better for computer gaming: Laptop or PC? (and by pc I mean the one thats not a laptop, and I will ask for your forgiveness if Im a noob) :D

Hi,

The answer to your question depends on essentially two factors:

1. What type of games you want to play, and at what quality and resolution, and
2. How much money you are willing to spend to achieve 1. above.

Regards,
Golden

With enough money, laptops can be just as good as desktops (e.g.: Falcon DRX, Malibal Nine).

If you don't need to bring it anywhere, get a desktop. Better bang for buck. You need to be more specific in your question, e.g. choice between what models.

PC's i think are a better choice for gaming if your not doing anything to intense a laptop would also do fine. it all depends on the money you want to spend

Well, Its mostly your choice. If your going to be gaming laptops and desktops are good. But If you want to upgrade later a Desktop would be your choice. Gaming Laptops have a bit of portability which is sometimes useful. Desktops come cheaper than Laptops for the same level of specifications.

If you buy a crap laptop what do you expect.

Other than performance per dollar, there's no difference at all, unless you want an absolutely bleeding-edge machine - laptops don't do >2-way SLI (yet).

PC's can be upgraded much more easily then a laptop to keep up with newer games. Graphics, Limited screen size, overheating, can't imagane playing without a mouse. Dollar for dollar you'd be hard pressed to convince me otherwise.

Id say from all the awesome responses I got that the Desktop PC for now wins! Now onto another debate:

What's a good Desktop PC with good gaming capabilities? What type of features should I be looking for?
Ive read somewhere it was Alienware but you guys can provide a much more indepth opinion as you did earlier!

PS To ease your minds:

Im willing to pay from a minimum of 500 bucks to a max of approx 1000 (and around, like 1200)

I already have a nice HD screen!

I wanted to play games at a good resolution, but Im willing to sacrifice graphics for good performances!

Thanks for all your expertise:D

Really nice! But which one should I choose? I suck at picking computer specs xD

start with the 2011 amd special $499....$125 gets a nice quad core...$94 gets 8 gig ddr3 1600...a 6870 for $202
$39 for a upgraded PSU...That comes to $959/ with windows 7 home/ and three year warranty...and you still have $41-$241 for any extras....

Well the m17x is my dream laptop. I can't afford it anyway so it's out for now.
If you don't find good priced prebuilt gaming PCs you can have the experience and fun of building it yourself. I have just built one for myself and made some modifications a few times. It saves a lot more money than a prebuilt by a brand.

WOW that Malibal is serious business !!! but surely you want a long life battery for a portable or really there is no point, might as well get a desktop.
