Hi all,So I just moved & I think I did something when I connected to a new ISP when it asked me if I wanted other computers to see my computer & since it wasn't my ISP, I said no.Now I can't get the network or group (I don't remember which) my website coder helped me set up working. It said Network Discovery was turned off on Win 10. I managed to find where it was & turned it on, but it's still not showing my Win 7 computer folder that was all set up & yes, allow is set to all of them on the Win 7 computer. On Win 7 the folder shows up fine, but I think that's just because that's where the folder originated from.On my Win 10 laptop it shows my laptop folder, but not the Win 7 folder under my name, Michelle PC.

Someone had me ping my IP address & assuming that's the right IP address, it timed out on both computers.

I just use this to send files from one computer to another. Please help. Thanks

I have several computers which are a mix of Windows XP, 7, 10 & 11. I can access the shared folders on all of them. Here are some setups for a couple of computers with Windows 7 & 10.

Computer #1: Phoenix-7 (Windows 7 Pro)

1. To find IP address:
1a. Open Command Prompt (Admin)
1b. Type: ipconfig
1c. In this example, IP address is 10.0.0.4

2. Network sharing options
2a. Open Control Panel
2b. Select Network and Internet
2c. Select Network and Sharing Center
2d. Select Change advanced sharing settings

3a.Home or Work (current profile)
* Turn on network discovery
* Turn on file and printer sharing

* Turn on password protected sharing
* Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers
3b. In Public select

6. To get around this I have created a folder on the desktop called My Network.

Win7 #6.jpg

7a. In this folder I have created shortcuts to all the network computers
7b. Clicking on these shortcuts always work even when a computer does not show up in Network.

Thank you very much for your help. All of a sudden on my Win 7 machine that popup that shows up when you get a new modem asking if this is public, home or work appeared & I got the new ISP fixed yesterday. I clicked on Home & now it's working LOL

No clue. That wasn't there yesterday.

I HATE COMPUTERS LOL

And I used to love them. I've been working on them since 1984. No comment. LOL

Take care
