Hello everyone. I have an nVidia Geforce GTS 240. I have the latest drivers but when I play games like Counterstrike and Crossfire, my fps is only 80. What is the easiest, most effective way to increase my FPS? I quite every program when I game. My IM client, virus protection, everything.

Thank you,
Stephen Hobson

Without upgrading your graphic card, the best way is to just lower the graphic settings in game.

Though 80fps is still a decent fps...

Not familiar with either of those games but for the ones I have even GRAW2 you can adjust video settings so there is less demand on your card. The payoff of course may be a bit less effects or saturation. In other words if you have the game settings maxed out the card has to work more. You could also try a different resolution.

I hate the smell of friggin corn chip butt breath snacks.
Some things that are standard in games that you can turn off or reduce. Turn AA off. Also if you have dynamic lighting turn that off. You can also force off vsync in NVIDIA control panel in case you are locked at your refresh rate. It doesn't appear that you are but good knowledge. Depth of field can be turned off and you can reduce your resolution. If you are averaging 80 though I would leave things. That's decent for FPS's.
