Best Windows 7 Edition for my PC

Firstly - why wud anyone get a P4 in this time when its already obsolete. - just asking. Yes best advice like addram said put XP on it and maybe upgrade ur ram to maximum cpacity. Check how much ram ur motherboard supports and make sure u get the proper ram for it- dont think it can take the new DDR3 onwards for it.

Well my uncle was actually moving from his old house and I didnt have a desktop PC at home so he told me I can keep it for now and buy a new one later. So it is old and used and I will be using it temporary just for about 5 to 6 months or so. So I wanted to know the best version to install..

Well I had the same thing in mind about installing Windows XP in it. How about Windows 7 Starter? Will that work and enhance performance? Any Idea??

Thanks..

No. Regardless of which edition you use they all run the same level of performance.

Oh ok I thought that would enhance performance because all the features which require lots of memory are disabled in the starter version compared to the other versions. I thought a Starter version is designed to work on slower computers or laptops.

Thanks..

Starter wasn't designed for running on slow computers, it was designed to be a stripped down version merely for price not performance. The extra features in other editions are only there when you run them, if you don't run them they take nothing.

Oh ok I guess I was wrong then.. My bad.. Anyways I guess I have no choice rather installing Windows XP in it to enchance performance. And use it for couple of months and buy a new computer. As its not worth spending money on upgrading memory and other hardware. I will be better of buying a or building a new computer rather than performing upgrades on this one.

Anyways I would like to thank you all for the support. Thank you all and have a wonderful day.. You guys are guys are awesome.. :-)

No actually I am installing Windows XP now as suggested in forum. So I need to back up my uncles files. So I was thinking on using Windows Easy transfer from windows 7 to save everything on a external drive and than when I install Windows XP in this PC. Install Windows easy transfer and transfer the files. I am sure it works from Windows XP to Windows 7 but am not sure if Windows easy transfer works vice versa.

Hi,

Thanks I got the drivers. It runs good with xp though but the problem is when I go to facebook and other sites the scrolling is not smooth. I changed my graphics card which I got free from my instructor (GV-R925128D) but no luck it still the same. What could be the problem? Any ideas?
