what about norton internet security 2009
i uses it and it is working fine until now

The thing about it is retards who used it 6 years ago, think they are experts....ie "if you dont Use NOD32 or kaspersky(no doubt by tomorrow they will be fanboys of a different brand) with its windows 95 interface you are an idiot."
The fact that detection rate is great,NIS 2009 intalls in 40 seconds and the footprint(since 2007)matches all and beats most other packages,is and always will be lost on them....because they read a few years ago that is ultracool to slag Norton.:D

I used to hate Norton.. The '07 product annoyed me, so I fled to BitDefender -- it worked wonders.. until the '09 version of BitDefender came out, it borked my Vista install.

So I was recommended to Norton Internet Security '09.. with hesitation, I installed it. To my surprise, and BitDefender's demise, I loved it. The install was flawless, the protection is awesome.. the footprint is nearly impossible to find, it's an awesome application. Surely worth a shot if you truly hate Norton (really, please try it before you bash it).

I also asked my father (an IT expert) about N360, he said it was crap compared to NIS '09. So I won't bother with it until he says otherwise :p

And that sums it up really. NIS 2009 is an excellent product. N360 not so good, unless you have 3 kids with laptops... The tool for monitoring if they are secured and upto date is a god send.

Three kids on laptops? I hope your access point or router is configured to use OpenDNS

With OpenDNS you can filter our malware, adware, and phishing sites (as well as like 50 more categories; including pornography, proxy, and tasteless). I use OpenDNS as a first rate of defense, if it never gets through to me, then I'm surely protected ;)

 Hello, can somebody help me with this Nortons 360 issue, I am running the Windows 7 version 7000 which it seems to run just fine with the exception that when I downloaded the Nortons 360 which was suppose to be configured to Windows 7. The issue is that once it runs for a couple of days it will try to Optimize and clean the Registry but it fails showing Errors on both the Disk Optimizer and the Registry Cleaner.
I have contacted Symantecs about the problem but they claim that they do not have a Windows 7 supported program for Nortons 360.
The thing is when you first install Windows 7 it shows Nortons 360 as 1 of the 4 Virus Programs that will work with Windows 7, AVG has issues also but that is another story.
I just think that if Nortons 360 is advertised as 1 of the programs that will work with Windows 7 then that is what I expect.

I have given up with Norton all together. I've traded them in for Avast! and there is NO issues with W7. I tried Kaspersky with Windows 7 build 7000 & had to completely re-install once the AV asked me to reboot :(

Me too. I started using Avast years ago and never looked back. Simple, non-resource hog, and very competent. Norton and McAfee are awful; Norton's the worst though.

Gringo, are you sure it's Norton/Symantec 360? There is a fake "Antivirus 360" that is being confused with Norton's.

Where did you get your version of Win7 Beta 7000 that suggested this from your quote?

I used the Norton 360 beta. It was great. I renewed it until I couldn't renew it anymore. I switch to Kaspersky and found my computer freezing up all the time and warning me about things that weren't there.

I would say AVG Free Edition is the best choice, although I haven't tried it on 7 yet.

The thing is when you first install Windows 7 it shows Nortons 360 as 1 of the 4 Virus Programs that will work with Windows 7

The security center gave you a message to download an antivirus program online which led to Windows 7: Security software providers at first they only had 4 partners and the norton one linked to the beta version of norton 360.

@ ikilledkenny, no it's not a virus :p .... I bought the "pro" version when it was by itself and not part of AVG. All I can tell you is that I couldn't get to a lot of my websites and it was a serious mistake!

What version of 360 did you install? I think beta 2-4 has been "optomized" for windows 7, I know 3 and 4 supposedly are. 4 i had issues with the framework crashing and a few other bugs.... it seemed to me that beta 3 worked better on 7000 so far. I also had the problems with the disk management, actually it didnt even want to run for me... never figured that since the framework kept crashing, could have been related to the DM tool. If you still want to tool around with norton, try installing or finding the beta 3, not sure if they have a beta 5 out yet. If you finally get fed up and can do without the bells and whistles but still want a good AV, try Avast

I think i seen this somewhere's also Jaycee, since they put out the recent betas of 360 in the past few months after the public 7 came out.

Also on the windows page norton was one of the 4, not sure if it displayed specific 360 or not.
