Hey, guys.
I own a Dell Inspiron 1545 and wanted to wrap it in carbon fiber.
That was successful.
Unfortunately, I ran into a problem when trying to start my computer after I assembled everything back together.

When I press the power button on my laptop, I hear the CD-ROM and fans, and the light turn on. Then it all turns off...
then it turns on again and the fan is running at a low pace. The screen is still off throughout this whole process.
When I press the power button again, the laptop turns off.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section

Info:
I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate dual booted with Ubuntu 12.10
Thanks again, guys.

Most laptop skins simply adhere to the cover without the need to disassemble the unit. Did you buy something different?

It would be helpful if you described the entire installation process, what you did, what you disassembled.

If you removed the display from the casing to install this thing then you could have a bad connection in the display socket. You've got to hear/feel it snap into position and this takes more force than you would expect on a connection that is so small and dainty.

But it would seem obvious that if you disassemble it and now it won't boot that you missed something. I suggest starting over.

I wanted the wrap to look OEM, so I had to disassemble the screen and removed the palm rest plate that holds the touchpa.
Using this tutorial as a visual:
Dell Inspiron 1545 | CPU Cooling Fan Replacement | How-To-Tutorial - YouTube

I basically did everything until 4:30. Then I wrapped what I wanted and assembled everything back.

I had the laptop disassembled for at least 4 hours.. so maybe that could affect my CMOS battery?
I'll try to disassemble and reassemble again.. I just hope I didn't fry anything. :/

Lol, I HATE my computer.
So it works now after reassembling.
The only did I did different was clean the memory sticks and before starting it, I removed the battery and plug, held the power button for 30-35 secs.
..Then I plugged in the power, w/o battery and turned it on.

So far it works... By tonight, if it still works I'll mark this thread as solved. :]

Nice work. I never pays, in the long run, to rush through these things. Although we have all done it!
