Blu-ray player with HHD - Copy to PC

I'm thinking of buying the Samsung BD-C8800A 3D bluray player (assuming it's region free and has an acceptable boot up time - does anyone know this stuff)..

It has a 250gb HDD in it. I'm wondering if I would be able to copy the data off the HDD to my Windows 7 PC which I have connected to my TV.. It has wireless and Ethernet built in. It also has USB.. so I'm guessing that I should be able to..

The sales guy I spoke with last week knew less than me (which I didn't think would be possible

If you're thinking of copying BluRay videos, I suggest that you read up on HDCP.

(I think of that as applying to PCs, but some sort of copy protection must apply to BD players.)

It might be more practical to get a BD-ROM drive or burner for your PC, and use software from Slysoft to circumvent the copy protection.

I was thinking of recording a program from TV to the PVR. My boys are all into basketball, so alot of basketball games, which we would move onto the server for medium term storage. I Use VideoReDo TV suite to take out the ads, then eventually convert to DVD.

It works on my Current PVR - But rthen that's just a PVR and nothing else. It takes almost a week to copy a 30gb HD file to the PC, so this is why I'm interested in the Combo BD player/PVR...

As long as I can copy the recorded content off the hard disk to my PC.

The C8800A and the C8900A actually don't appear to be real 3D BD players. They suffer from uncurable judder and other 3D related issues - even on the latest firmware.

I ended up settling for a LG B558D combo unit. It allows me to record off DTV and copy the files, though like the BeyonWiz it is slow with inly a 10/100 connection.

Most likely, that drive in the player will have its own filesystem that you wont be able to copy / extract the data off.
to make copies, you will probably need to do some sort of play + recording setup through other inputs and outputs (may result in reduced quality...as happens on DVR's)
