Windows 7 64bit Home Premium. Events are turn on computer, at user logon screen, put in my administer password, screen goes to windows blue background, message displayed is "welcome" with the normal clock direction "loading" feature. Sometimes to goes to the correct desktop screen but sometimes after about 20 or so seconds the screen will turn sort of a blue/green color and computer freezes. I have Windows firewall, Microsoft security Essentials, Malwarebytes Pro all up to date and ran again and again. In addition have run SFC/scannow. Have removed all unnecessary programs. If I get the blue/green screen the fix is to use original W7 disk, select repair and restore the system to an earlier date.
A technician that checked the computer remotely said I have a corrupted W7 software, and restoring to an earlier date will work temporally but the problem will come back and get worse. The cure is to update to Windows 8, getting rid of Windows 7 altogether. Does this sound logical ?

No, it doesn't sound logical to me. Mmm....what you are describing sounds like either:

1. Faulty video card, or
2. Corrupt video driver

Try uninstalling the video driver completely, reboot the computer and then see if this colour problem appears. If it does not appear, run Windows update, then check the optional updates to install the video driver offered.
