Blue Screen every shutdown

New Windows 7 build - 1 month old. I have been getting a blue screen every time I shut down. I have collected the following ones:

Page_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area STOP 0x00000050 0xfffffA8002C2ED0A
Special_Pool_Detected_Memory_Corruption STOP 0xFFFFF9800380EFF0
Driver_Corrupted_Pool_Memory STOP 0x000000DE 0XFFFFF8A00C6E8408

Others - C0000221 Unknown Hard Error NTDLL.DLL - 0X0000000A, 0x0000007E references TCPIP.SYS

I have updated the MB's BIOS to the latest (Rev. 2 F4), updated the video card with the latest ATI drivers, updated the on-board NIC and sound drivers. I ran 2 different memory checks (came up clean, but I am not ready to rule it out 100% yet), have temporarily disabled my spyware/antivirus client (Vipre) and still getting errors. I'm hoping someone who knows something about these errors can point me in the right direction. Minidumps attached.

Assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Most likely this is due to gdrv.sys - a driver component of your Gigabyte Tools program (I'm guessing the ET6 program). Please uninstall the program - then to be sure, check in C:\Windows\System32\drivers to make sure that gdrv.sys is gone. If not, try renaming it to gdrv.BAK

If possible, could you please zip up a copy of that file and upload it with your next post. That way we'll be able to have a closer look at it to see if there's any other info that'll tell us where it belongs.

Keep an eye on Catalyst Control Center as there have been issues with older installations.
Please don't use registry repair/tweaking utilities as they can cause more problems than they are worth.

FWIW - nearly all of the BSOD's blame this file, so it's most likely the cause of your BSOD's. I think that it's installed from the Windows Update site when you're installing Windows - rather than being installed with the Gigabyte utilties, but that's just a guess on my part as I don't have a Gigabyte mobo to test it on.

John -

Thank you very much for your time and help in pointing me towards the Gigabyte software. I initially uninstalled the tools (ET6) and that removed the gdrv.sys file. Still had the BSOD after that, so I removed all Gigabyte utils and that seems to have done the trick (no BSODs since).

Thanks!

The Gigabyte installers aren't very friendly towards me - so I'm only able to guess what program these drivers might be in. What I normally do is to extract the installation files using UniExtract - but I can't get it to work with the Gigabyte files.

I'm glad that you got rid of it though! Thanks for letting us know!
