I keep getting this BSOD error. I have reinstalled windows 7 twice now. Run disk check and it came back fine as far as I know...I keep getting this error a few times a day now. My entire laptop just freezes up and then a minute or so later I get this BSOD error. I restart....it starts back up and either the same BSOD comes up right after or it runs ok for a while before I get the same error again. Sometimes it can run for hours until the error comes up, other times it happens right away.

Is it the motherboard? I had to sent my laptop (Asus G53JW) to the Asus repair centre and they had to replace the motherboard. About a month after this, I get this error often like I explained above. I started getting this around March 8th or so. After the first two times it stopped for a while but lately it's EVERYDAY and a few times a day.

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/4581/img0231hg.jpg

And the crash dump usually fails, I think.

My specs are:
Intel Core i7-740QM, 15.6" HD LED 120Hz, 6GB RAM, 750GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GB

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Ok I will attempt to do that right now...if it starts up. Sorry. Total noob here and never had BSOD issues before :/

EDIT: Yeah, it's taking a long time on the "startup repair" operation. It says "repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete"

I have done this before after the crashes and it didn't take as long....

Is there anything you can tell from the picture I did show you tho?

Well....it got to the point that it would get that BSOD error as soon as I booted and it was about to boot to the desktop. I am recovering windows 7 exactly the way it was when I got it thru the Asus recovery program. Afterthat hopefully it boots and I will take the necessary steps to enable the minidump. If it still blue screens on startup then I am screwed and back to Asus RMA I guess..... If it was a hardware issue then it wouldnt run at all right? Idk....I am so lost at this point and trying to reinstall windows so it boots up and let's me enable minidump so that next time it happens I have one to post here.

Wow so it got stuck on the BSOD before a minidump file was created. It got stuck on "initializing disk for crash dump". It doesn't seem to blue screen in safe mood with networking. Not yet anyways.

It could be dumping kernel or full memory dumps - not small memory...
Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.

I have done all that. Here is a picture of the system recovery screen just in case.

BTW I don't know if this has to do with BSOD but I went into my BIOS and the boot order was my blu-ray Player/DVDRW and THEN the HDD. I switched it around so that the HDD is first and then the blu-ray Player/DVDRW. I have been on the laptop for about 2 hours now without a BSOD and not in safe mode.

The thing is, when the BSOD started it would go from working fine for hours and then everything started to just freeze up and the blue screen would appear or it would go to the blue screen right away as soon as windows loads.

So I will wait and see and report back here. I am hoping IF it does happen again, the minidump file will be created. I sincerly hope this is not a hardware issue as this laptop is 2-3 months old and it's very expensive to replace the parts.

ZoneAlarm? Um...not that I am aware of. I just restored my system to exactly how it was when I bought it. Everything on it is what Asus put on it. I downloades SP1 so I will get on installing that.

Well I have been on my laptop doing various things for a while now and have not had that BSOD again. I think I can safely say (and hopefully it won't come back to bite me) that my issue is fixed! Thank you very much for the help. But I did run into some issues installing SP1. It got about 3/4 through and it was stuck for about an hour.

No error happened, nothing. I just did a system restore to before I ran the installation. I installed the actual installation file frome Microsoft btw.

More BSOD's

I am getting BSOD's on a regular basis again. It's starting to piss me off. I don't think it's a hardware issue as everything works fine and the blue screens of death are random. I can go days without getting one and other days it happens very often. There is the rare time that it gets a BSOD in safe mode.

So can anyone help me please?

BTW I can't get a minidump because apparently it FAILS to do one. On the BSOD it says it is intiailizing it and then it either gets stuck at that part, or it fails and restarts. So I did a jcgriff. WTF is up with my laptop?

Thanks in advance.

P.S I don't think "ZoneAlarm" has to do with this, since I got rid of Trend Micro as far as I know, and my only antivirus type programs are Windows Defender and Windows Security Essientials.

Hi there,

First install the driver for NVIDIA stereo controller. If you can't find the drivers then remove the device from the system.

Code:
USB\VID_0955&PID_7002\6&E436737&0&5 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Run Hardware Diagnostic to rule out that problem Hardware Diagnostic | Captain Debugger

Hope this helps,
Captain
