Blue Screen of Death - Laptop

Alright finally got a BSOD after a few days without them. Here it is. I created the Minidump file inside of C:\Windows but still nothing. I took a picture of the BSOD and then upon booting back up it prompted me that it will run a disk check, so I let it and I took a picture of that also. I hope it's helpful in some way because I am absolutely lost.

Hello,

It's looking like a hard drive problem to me:

Repaired file system errors.
The temporary relief the formats have brought you may be explained by a failing hard drive. During the format, all the bad sectors are flagged as such, and no data is written to them. When more sectors fail, data can be corrupted however.

I see SeaTools for Windows isn't working; might be unrelated to possible hard drive trouble, but you never know. Try running the DOS version: SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

I finally ran SeaTools and here is what happened:

As the pictures show, it did find some errors but apparently it fixed them. So hopefully now my BSOD's will stop.

I think the issue was the hard drive because a few days ago I was trying to copy a few folders from drive C to drive D and during the actual transfer it would get like halfway on the copy and paste progress screen and then everything would freeze and I would get a BSOD. It happened EVERY single time.

After running SeaTools and it apparently having "fixed" whatever was wrong I tried to copy and paste the exact same folders from drive C to drive D and no BSOD happened like before.

The snapshots indicate failing hard drive - I would possibly return the laptop if it is still in warranty.

Again, monitor your computer for anymore BSODs. If you still get BSODs, then it is best to return it.

That really sucks....this laptop is only a few months old. I got it Nov 30th of 2010 and it was REALLY expensive. The fact that a piece of hardware is failing already is just wow.

It says it repaired the issues though? I don't know, I am not an expert :/

Ok thank you for the help, Dean and Jonathan. I will keep an eye on anymore BSOD's.

Dean gave very good advice - return the system if the BSODs return. The drive can be "fixed" by marking the bad sectors as such, and moving all data onto good ones. If the drive is failing, though, more sectors will "go bad" in the future, causing problems again.

Since the system is so new, though, there's no reason you should have to deal with that.

If possible, ask them just to replace the HDD from your system.

Will do. So far I haven't had a BSOD but I guess time will tell. Thank you so much for the help Dean and Jonathan. I really appreciate it.
