Im able to boot thru dvdrom by hitting the esc key thx but here is another question if u dont mind? It asking me to select with one i want to do 1. Recover Windows first Partition only 2. Recover Windows to entire HD 3. Recover Windows to entire HD with two Partitions. I know ive been a pain all weekend and i hope U enjoy Ur Easter but u dont know how Yall kept me sane so thx to Carolyn and S1W2 I really appreciate ur help on this

If you have an external hard drive (USB) use Macrium Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download to backup a full image. This way when you reinstall Windows 7 you won't lose your files.

I just want to say thank u to everyone who assist on the problem i was having, I ended up restoring and losing everything i got ur msg too late Carolyn & thx belikexp but ur was late too lmao im ok though starting over is good right? "restoring and losing everything". That means you should buy a copy of Win 7. Next time you could do a custom install and not lose any data.

You can also sign up for Microsoft skydive (25 gigs online free) and dropbox (2 gigs free). Or use ImgBurn and copy files to dvd. And use MozBackup to save and restore Firefox and Thunderbird files.

Wow that was a lot I could have done lmao but hey it is what it is! Now can u help me with getting my laptop to run up to speed or it this the result of the heart attack It just had (crash) and that would be 2 for a 2 year old machine. Its taking me forever to download software like Zune yea u heard Zune lol sh*t is took forever to get AVG back on here please help

Computer wont startup by virus CURE

due to a virus I had the same problem : infinite loop recovery and ci.dll corrupt...
i've solved the problem :
recopy the ci.dll to c:\windows\system32
and next repair the bootloader ( the virus delete infos in c:\boot...)
restart & enjoy

Hey pran199 I am having the same problem you had. I got a virus and now my laptop is just looping the recovery which is not working. What exactly were the steps you took to take care of your problem if you wouldn't mind helping me out.

pran199 PLEASE DO post your exact steps. I have followed the tutorial in the beginning of this thread but had no luck. I have also tried deleting ci.dll from c:\windows\system32 and then re-copying from x:\windows\system32 but no luck!! Not sure what you mean by

HELP!! I do not what to have to reinstall all my programs!!

Download Ubuntu and burn iso image to disc and insert disc when booting your computer and boot from Ubuntu disc and click try now, not install. Then do steps 1-2 with Ubuntu!!!

1) Download the ci.dll file for your Windows 7 here:
ci.dll
2) Go to ‘C:\Windows\System32’ and ‘drag n’ drop ‘the ci.dll file into the file and choose ‘copy and replace’.
3) Use a system recovery disc and boot your computer up with that and when it gives you a choice of what to do (Disc Check, System Restore, Command Prompt) choose Command Prompt.
4) Type in: bootrec.exe /fixmbr
5) Then type in: del C:\boot\bcd
6) Then type in: bootrec.exe/rebuildbcd
7) Then close the command prompt by clicking the ‘x’ or the exit button located in the top-right hand corner of the command prompt.
8) Restart computer and eject recovery disc and boot computer normally and done!!!

hi I have got to step 6 and it says

Should I close it as you lot have?
