Boot disk error with cloned win 7 64 bit on ssd - why?

Hi guys.

I installed my sandisk pulse ssd 256gb sata iii on my sata ii moo via pcie sata iii card. every now and then I get the boot disk error messages - CTRL-AL-DEL to restart . I set it as my primary disk boot and disabled the wd blue from appearing on bios hasrd disk selection (which also has os installed)

I know I don't get sata iii speed on my mobo but am more worried about boot disk error messages.:shock:

any fix for this? should I reinstall my win 7 ultimate 64 bit upgrade on the ssd and start afresh? at the same time save all data to external hdd and wipe the OS clean off the wd 500gb - then copy all music and sundry back to the wd blue?

I plan to get windows 8 asap while the upgrade version is on offer till end of January 2013.

after my hardware plan works will a clean install of windows 8 pro upgrade wipe my ssd clean fixing the problem?:sarc:

Check your BIOS manual for setting to boot via PCIe sata card, for Windows 8 will need full support to via PCIe sata card.

If you are going to install Win 8 in the next month, I would just go ahead and do that now. It might solve all of the problems you are having with Win 7.

I think so too big MC. tell me.i am getting the m5a97 le r2 next week. if I install my current ssd and win7 on it then there after bios updates and all are done, I install the windows pro 64 bit version. should be okay from there? have a merry xmas and happy new year

I don't know if the version of Win 8 they give you allows for a Clean Install or you have to upgrade from Win 7. You will be much better to do a Clean Install if possible. That is what I did when I got my SSD. It just makes for a all around better install. I wish you luck on the build and when you get it done, there is a section on here to post pictures of new rigs. You will have to post yours.

thanks. I will do my best to keep her nice and tidy- especially the wiring part as the new mobo will have two extra case fan headers on pwm I hope and think. need to check online manual again.
