Greetings. I'll cut to the chase. It is as the title says. Below is what I have tried to do:
*I apologise that I could not remember which Windows 7 version I have.
1) Starup repair doesn't work. This was the details it given:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21199922
Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 06: 21
Problem Signature 07: CorruptFile
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Session Details
System Disk = \Device\Harddisk0
Windows directory = D:\Windows
AutoChk Run = 0
Number of root causes = 1
Tests performed include system disk test, disk failure diagnosis, disk metadata test,
target OS test, volume content check, boot manager diagnosis, system boot log diagnosis,
event log diagnosis, internal state check. All completed successfully with error code 0x0.
2) System Restore Issue:
System Restore failed to extract the file (D:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswAMSI.dll)
from the restore point. The restore point was damaged or was deleted during the restore.
3)I didn't make a system image because prior to this event, I do not know about system image recovery.
4) Windows Memory Diagnostics showed there wasn't any problem and automatically rebooted my PC with the issue not fixed.
5) Using command prompt, I tried this:
Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery - Windows 7 Help Forums
chkdsk for my D drive(windows and system drive) and E drive(where I put my games) showed no problem
aside from reporting error due to error 50.
SFC /scannow - No integrity violation (Done thrice)
6)And, no, I do not own a Windows installation disc. System repair function is already built into my PC so
a system repair disc would be redundant isn't it?
I'd like to avoid buying the Windows 7 installation disc unless it is the last resort.
