Boot manager error

I can't boot my system cos it keeps showing me "bootmgr is missing",press ctrl+alt+delete.This have occured several times even after I tried shutting down the system and rebooting again.Please any information on how I can resolve this will be appreciated.Thanks

Hello and welcome ndukwejuliet now I am assuming the operating system is already loaded so what is set for the boot device in the BIOS. Now first we need some system specifications like even the model number please before we go any further unless you know what key to hit on power up to get into the BIOS.

There are other options but we need to know what this machine is.

Yep, if you perhaps tell the model number (Manufacturer HP I presume) may be a focussed reply can come.

Generally speaking, a startup repair and /or bootrec /rebuildbcd from the command prompt should be able to repair the problem. You may perhaps be able to run them from the Recovery CDs or even from the recovery partition. The documentation on your laptop should be able to guide you on it.

Anyway, just wait for others to guide you elaborately on running startup repair or repairing it with command prompt - not my cup of tea

Yes Jumanji I have got an idea it is F10 on power up as a couple of Google hits show just waiting on the OP now

go to cmd and enter bootrec.exe /fixmbr, i had this issue before with a bad bootloader.

yeah it worked for me, if op is still having issues accessing the prompt he should try using some installation media to get into it. thx

Actually mate I was thinking more along the lines of a factory default and I think form memory the power on and F10 key does this but I do wish posters would include a little more on the system specs it is so frustrating not knowing what you are actually dealing with a month old machine for a ten year old one
