Hi, it happened to me when I first got my laptop. Its O.K don't worry...

- Computer Manufacturer/Model Number
- Asus (tweaked music only laptop)
- OS
- Windows 7 Home Premuim 64 bit custom build. XP Professional on other studio machines.
- CPU
- i5 430, Plus Pentuim machines in studio as well.
- Motherboard

- 8 gig ddr 3 on Laptops and 4 gig on XP music machines.
- Graphics Card(s)
- NVIDIA Genforce GT 540m 1 gig ram on music studio laptop.
- Sound Card
- Native Instruments Kontrol 1, DJ 8 , DJ 6.
- Hard Drives
- Samsung 470 Series 64 Gb SSD for boot and O.S and music apps.
Loads of external USB 2.0 drives that contain samples and WAV for music production and playing out.

- Cooling
- Machine sits on usb coolermaster Notepal (17 inch 3 fans)
- Other Info
- I have basic Dell machine for web running XP. Other machines are custom builds for music production only. (No web or games)
Information
Boot up using the Startup Repair CD or Windows 7 DVD. (not the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disk) If you have a Netbook, you will need a CD/DVD drive.
NOTE: Make sure no USB drives are plugged in.
Do not use a USB Pendrive for Startup Repair.

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

My first Win 7 machine was a laptop.. so that means no disks. That pesky hidden partition on C drive!
When I got the machine home and booted her up for the first time Win 7 asked me to make repair disks etc. I DID THIS FIRST THING!
LOL The reason from most manufactures is to save the environment, yet mine machine is an Asus.. so that took 5 whole d.v.d s ... mostly bloatware.

Do you have a mate with Windows 7 of the same bit version 32 or 64 & CD/DVD RW Drive, who could burn one off.

Try tapping the F8 key at boot to access System Recovery Options to run Startup Repair repeatedly. If no Repair console on F8, you'll need the Win7 DVD or Repair CD.
If this fails use the Command Prompt to mark Win7 or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred) Active: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two) then run Repairs again up to 3 separate times.
If these fail you may be infected. Try booting into Safe Mode to run full scan with Malwarebyte.
If no Safe Mode download, burn to CD or write to flash stick Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper, boot to run a full scan.
Now run the Repairs again. If they fail, try SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot and System Restore from the Recovery Options list.
If all fails, you can copy out your files using Win7 DVD or Repair CD: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
Then run Factory Recovery from it's partition using the hotkey given at boot or in your Manual which is found on the internet. Use the Recovery Disks as a backup method. Or find a Win7 installation DVD for your version for Clean Reinstalling Windows 7
