Hello. Yesterday i re-installed Windows 7, mainly because i wanted a clean harddrive, i had some sound problems, and my PC was slow after installing a chipset i fear have a virus attached to it. (Might be the bootstrapper). So, after the re-install it was perfect, sound problems solved, and the PC was fast.

But now, it seems so unstable like if it's still there. Programs become unresponsive, even explorer.exe is unresponsive a lot of times. I can't start my anti-virus program because it freezes, and if i'm lucky enough to get in, the 'virus scan' freezes at 1 %, and doesn't go any further.

Even my gaming platform called 'Steam' has changed its description in Task Manager. It used to be just 'Steam client', but now it's called:
'Steam Client Bootstrapper (buildbot_winslave04_steam_steam_rel_client_win32@winslave04)'
Bootstrapper? Winslave? That doesn't sound entirely legit nor very good.

Even my internet has gotten incredibly slow.

I looked up Bootstrap virus on Google, but i didn't get any helpful results on how to remove it.

I will attach a DxDiag of my PC to his post, so that you can see that the specs definitely isn't the problem, and some pics.

Can anyone help?

Oh! I believe that explains the sudden description change... But then what could make my PC so slow? It's a freshly installed W7 with nearly nothing on the hard drive... Hmm... I still have problem with my digital sound. It works fine for the first hour after i turn on my computer, then the sound crackles, and it shuts off, and i have to use the USB sound. I use an Astro A40.

Thanks for that info, by the way.

Consider updating all the PC drivers first, then judging about its speed. Although viruses are possible at any time, it is unlikely that they cause your problems.
