Hello Metzler. Are you still on Driver Verifier enabled?
Code:
DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION (c9)
What is the situation if you disable Driver verifier?
Hi Arc! Yup I have it off. The two recent HIDCLASS.sys BSODs were from when I tried turning it on. The computer has been running decent, but I've had a few lock ups that were not BSOD, and I had a direct X BSOD a day or two ago (dxgmms1.sys.) If you guys want, we can wait and see for a few days and see what errors come up.

That is what I installed, but the wizard seemed to be a general update, not specifically chipset related, so I'm not positive the chipset was updated. But yeah it should be.

Hello Metzler. Are you still on Driver Verifier enabled?
Code:
DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION (c9)
What is the situation if you disable Driver verifier?
Hi Arc! Yup I have it off.
If you are sure that you have it off, then the situation is not very good at all. Try to understand me please.... I think I am not describing it too hard .... if you cannot understand it correctly, please ask us.

The computer thinks, as it records in the memory, that it is DV on.
Code:
DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION (c9)
But the fact is, DV is not enabled at all.
Code:
DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT
Then, it is either a virus, or a driver bug.

For a virus, scan the system for possible virus infection.

If anything found, good. If not found, it is a driver bug, and the buggy driver is the Keyboard/mouse driver.
Code:
Probably caused by : HIDCLASS.SYS ( HIDCLASS!HidpMajorHandler+0 )
I am seeing that your keyboard is operated by i8042prt.sys and kbdhid.sys; and mouse is operated by mouhid.sys and hidusb.sys ..... and no HIDCLASS.sys in your system  So

If the virus scans comes clean, format the C drive and start fresh.

So I formatted the HD and did a clean reinstall of Windows. However, when I tried to play a game (starcraft II,) I got 2 BSOD in a row. I am attaching the SF log.

Follow it: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. After it occurs, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Edit: you need to try it: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91738-windows-update-reset.html

1) recommendations :
completely uninstall the old drivers before you installed the new one
2) Check your BIOS and see if there is any update, recently there have been many released ,
as some Intel boards were suffering BSOD problems with Windows.
3) Your RAM may be faulty. I'd suggest running memory test

My mistake, I forgot to change this with the re-installation. Please find attached 2 minidumps.

Sorry, but what is this, and which option should I choose from the tutorial? If it helps, the error codes for windows update fail are 8007065E & 800B0100. EDIT: Nevermind, looks like I should go with option 3.

1. Sorry, which drivers do you mean? 2. I updated my BIOS just one week ago. 3. I ran memtest 2 weeks ago, at 11 passes with no errors.

Both the crash dumps are silent about any probable cause. But in one of them, I got these.

This may be caused by many a things, but the first suspect is a BIOS rootkit. A HDD formatting and clean reinstall is not enough to clean up a rootkit, it requires some specific scans. Scan the system for possible virus infection.

Install Service pack 1 and the other windows updates. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.

Hmm so I ran both antivirus tests and didn't find any results. However, I'm still not able to install the service pack update. I tried http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ate-reset.html

but its still failing, code C0000135. I also tried installing it directly from here:
Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center

file windows6.1-KB976932-X64, but it says that the data is invalid.
Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center

As directed, I download Windows Updates KB2454826, KB2534366, and KB253355, but the 1st was already installed, and the other 2 are no applicable. All other windows updates are installed. I ran the troubleshooter, and it said no problems were detected. I'm running System File Checker tool now.

Sorry for the serial posting. Alright so that seemed to do the trick, and I'm now completely updated. The computer seems generally stable but when I try to play Starcraft the game freezes up (but not a BSOD.) Not sure what to try next. Would the SF log be useful for this? Thank you!

Good to know that you are up to date now :)

A freeze during gameplay may cause due to various reasons.

If the GPU is failing itself. Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
BTW, how old the GPU is?

If the computer is hot. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

If the PSU is not supplying adequate power. Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

If the dispaly driver is not upto date. Make it sure that you are running to updated display driver.

If the game is resource hungry, or the gameplay misses some FPS. Enter into the games settings and change the preferences to medium or low.

Thanks. Unfortunately I did a lot of this earlier with Northern. GPU is brand new, like a month old. Last week I ran a furmark Stress test for 10 min with no problems (pic attached.) Also, that picture shows temperature readings from CPUID HW Monitor.

I did the power supply calculator and it comes out to about 365 watts, and I have a 500W PSU. Game does not seem resource hungry, its runs great till it crashes lol. Video card drivers are most recent. Earlier Northern had thought the GPU drivers might have been an issue and had me roll them back. So I don't know if we want to go down that route again or try something different. Thanks Arc.

So you are using the 306.23 WHQL as the display driver? Its a nice one. Still, as a test, you may update to 314.22 driver.

The freezes may be caused by RAM, too. Use any desktop gadget to follow the RAM usage during gameplay. If it is approaching high, game may be hanged.

The opposite, I am currently using 314.22 and am thinking maybe I should try 306.23. I don't think its a RAM issue because the game recommends 2 gigs and I have 4.

EDIT: I'm an idiot, I tried the game again with all the windows updates installed and it seems to work fine. So HOPEFULLY that was the problem. I am going to give it a few days and If nothing happens Ill mark this thread as solved. Thank you again for all your help!
