and then telling them they lack knowledge by choosing said product is in poor taste in my opinion.

I didn't say anybody in particular lacked knowledge. And I didn't say that they clearly were without knowledge by buying a BOSE product. What I said is that tons of people simply "know" intrinsically that BOSE makes great products....but they also self admittedly know next to nothing about audio. It's that level of marketing which has created adoration for a product they may know nothing about, nor it's competitors that I find interesting. This clearly doesn't apply to everyone...but I think it applies to quite a large number of people.

When i talk to people at work who own Bose systems, I often ask them what other systems they demoed and most have no response....or they said that they simply "went for the BOSE" "as it's the best"

All I've ever done is encouraged people to not take the marketing at face value and to actually compare products and systems in the same price range to ensure that the BOSE really is the best deal for them. If they do this and still walk away with the BOSE, I have no issues with that.

My old boss was set on a Bose Lifestyle system a few years back. And like many others, he simply went into a store, heard the BOSE demo and thought "wow...this really sounds exception' I encouraged him to visit a hi-fi shop and demo some other systems. I think he ended up saying,"wow,quite a number of these setups sound really, really good. He ended up with a Denon receiver, and a full set of JM Labs Chorus speakers and in the end spent about $400 less than the BOSE and absolutely loves his setup. Granted, his speakers are bigger and his home theater takes up more room than the small cube speakers from BOSE. But at the end of the day, his room is plenty big and his bigger setup fits just fine and dandy. He appreciated the suggestions and was glad in the end that he shopped around. And his in-laws I believe have the BOSE system...so he knows first hand how it really performs in a home.

And remember, I've owned a few BOSE products in the past. I learned by experience. I'm trying to help people, not disrespect them.

pparks1, I often hear the same thing. When someone unknowing tells me that Bose are great speakers, my first reply is "really? Who told you that?" Usually, some other unknowing person told them and they believed them. The bottom line is, Bose is a marketing company, not a speaker company. The only speaker they ever made that was half way decent was the 901, and even at that, it was so overpriced, there were better options out there. Today, Bose are literally the cheapest speakers made, yet they are priced at or near premium levels. The driver (layman's term for speaker) in a Bose cube cost around .49. That's right, I said cents. The cubes, themselves, are made of cheap plastic. The bass driver? Don't even get me started. Just read this.
