I have HP Presario CQ42 173 TU laptop with windows 7 OS. This problem started few days back. Both my Shift keys started malfunctioning. my Sticky keys are not on. When I use the shift key sometime it works and some time not for ex: when I press shift+A at first the letter remains Small but when I press second time it turns to capital letter and also I observed that it works with some keys not with all. QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKLzxcvBNm you can see that the shift key not worked with ZXCV&M and it is with both the shift keys not one. can anyone tell me what can be the problem.

The obvious and most likely problem is the keyboard is defective. I would consider replacing the keyboard. If the PC is still in warranty, contact HP. If not its a little bit of a job but the keyboard can be user replaced.
