Brightness too high :(

Don't know if is only a my problem but the brightness of Win7 tired my eyes. The backlight of the white, the icons retro illuminated...there is a way for have a brightness like XP? Now I use the basic theme and I have disable all the effect but the problem is the same

Laptop
Right click desktop.
Select 'Graphics Properties'
Color Correction
Brightness control - turn down.

Desktop
On the monitor, consult the manual for how to change the display properties.
If there is the same option for the laptop solution, just do the same.

The hotkey "Windows key" + "x" don't work for me, I think becouse I have disable all the effect option

Fn Key would be found on a laptop keyboard, your using Desktop so its not applicable.

Whats you gfx-card? Do you have the drivers installed if so go to the control panel of you gfx-card!!

How about using your monitor settings?Brightness, contrast and all that...if u r using lcd there must be and settings like for movie,internet,games etc..or make one by yourself. Faster than that...

my video card is Radeon Sapphire HD 4770 and I have installed the lates driver. I can enter in the option of my video card or monitor option but WHY with XP with the same option (all default) the brightness is perfect and with W/ not?

the question is that I wan't change the monitor options becouse I think the brightness of the icon or light background is an option of W7, if I change che option of my monitor I change ALL the brightness and not only that I want

Did yu ever think that your old driver for you video card/monitor was not working to 100%. Seems to me the newer Win7 drivers are making your monitor waork correctly but it seems you just don't want to make any adjustments to correct the issue at hand now.

Do you know how to check your monitors settings manually?
Lets solve the problem and not start something not related to the problem.

Can u link me the correct driver that i must install? I use Win 7 64bit italian version and the video is a Radeon Sapphire HD 4770
The last driver that I have install are named "9-12_vista_win7_32-64_ccc_lang2"

Hi lauraq, start - type calibrate display into search, then step through the processes to adjust your settings. You may find that if you adjust the contrast ratio it will be more comfortable to your eyes
