Brink, Relocating Caches

Brink,
I tried to move the favorites file to another drive for storage. Chose the move target selection. Did the same method for some other files. I turned my puter off, an went away for a couple days.

Next time I turn it on, desktop is changed, favorites are lost, the teamspeak app had totally reset as if just installed, lost all server addy's I had accumulated. Some of my location choices reverted to default. System restore would not help.

All these weird, unconnected things happened. Event veiwer has some odd errors now. So what did I do wrong and how do I accomplish this properly?

Hello Spyknee,

Not sure what went wrong where, but see if using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore the default location of your Favorites folder may be able to help. You may need to copy the contents of the moved folder into the now restored default folder afterwards.

Also note that while the shell exposes the ability to move things like cache and favorites, it isn't actually supported (or tested) by Microsoft to do so unless they're still local to the machine - so, for example, moving them to a removable or network drive would be a bad thing, and isn't guaranteed to work. In general, moving these things to anything other than a local drive installed to the machine is fraught with peril, and even moving them to a different volume in the same system can cause problems.
