Solved Browser won't budge

Hi,

I'm using Windows 7 (64 bit) and MSIE 11.0.9600.

Tonight when I was trying to find information on part-time work online, my browser would go to the first level of searching, where it lists about 20 websites that had info on my search topic, but whenever I'd click or double-click on a site to go to it, nothing would happen. It would just sit there. Usually, in my upper left corner of the screen, the topic subject appears along with a small wheel that turns, but this time - nothing.

I tried doing the work that the browser is supposed to do, and typed in the name of one of the sites I wanted to visit, but again, nothing.

Any suggestions? I just reloaded MSIE 11 a few days ago, after getting rid of Firefox 29, and my PC hasn' been the same since.

Otherwise you may have to uninstall the IE11 and reinstall.

Hi after doing the above suggestion,
Please reset ie11 and see if that helps,
Often uninstalling another browser might leave your system in a confused state,

Browser won't budge - solved

Sorry I've been out of touch for a while, but after returning from a convention, I had to undergo gum surgery a couple days ago and haven't felt much like doing anything. Imagine a brick between you cheek and your gum and you'll get the idea.

So this afternoon (12/20), I did as y'all suggested. My HD is fine, fortunately. I then reset MSIE 11, but took the lazy way out when it came to accepting default values and was bombarded with popup ads, including one that told me to call 877-668-2771, which I looked up only to find it is an extortion ad.

With all the garbage I was getting, I decided that resetting MSIE 11 was the quick way out, so I did that again, but this time, I didn't accept any default values, and now, not only does my browser work pretty quickly, but another problem I've had (videos not showing up in most websites) seems to be solved, too. I watched a couple vids on Kim Komando's website, and they showed up just fine. I'll mark that thread as solved as soon as I finish with this one.

Many thanks for your wisdom and patience. I used to do tech support for PC's many years ago, so I appreciate guys and gals who are good at that kind of thing. Y'all are worth your weight in gold.

I would how ever suggest using these free tools to see what they find,
Post the scan results for review,

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
Uncheck the box to Activate the Free trial from the final install options,
Also use the Custom scan option not the Threat scan,
Select the drive to scan usually C,
If your really infected check the box to scan for Rootkits = this scan option will take several hours to complete,
Never use your machine while scans are running for best results,

If I may add just one little thing to that I found the Emsisoft Emergency Kit really good only a short time ago when my Ivy Brideg was really crawling along and this was a suggestion form anothe rwell known member who I won't embarrass

NB My doctor who I end discussing computers with swears by the security suite itself.
