BSOD 0x00000116 While Playing Archeage

Two days ago I was running Archeage seemingly fine.

The next day was getting this BSOD 0x00000116 when running Archeage IN-GAME (After server and load screen) after a few seconds to 10 minutes of play. Reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers did not appear to help and after many reinstalls (Of Archeage and Glyph Launcher) I still had nothing.

A day ago I went into safe mode and used a utility called Reinstall DirectX EZ to reinstall DX from the sources folder on the WIN 7 Disc. I thought it might be a DX issue because some people claimed running in DX 9 vs 11 was better or vise versa.

I then used Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall my NVIDIA driver 340.52 (Latest 9/17/14) and reinstalled from a fresh exe from NVIDIA (Also 340.52).

I restarted my computer each time something uninstalled or installed.

Yesterday, I was able to play Archeage for 6 hours with no BSOD and thought I had fixed the issue.

Today I tried to run Archeage again and recieved a BSOD before making it IN-GAME.

I have attached the BSOD File as instructed to my post.

PLEASE HELP ME! I REALLY LIKE THIS GAME AND DONT WANT IT TO BE DOING THIS!

- Chris

Hi Pokgai, first of all you only have 1 dump file. Dump files is what we go by to decode. Second, I'm not sure why, but we have had several people who have had massive amounts of problems with that game. I don't play that one, so I really can't tell you for sure. I can tell you that typically when several people have trouble with the same game, many times it is something in the way the game is encoded. I know I had problems with BF4 and after patch after patch, I finally just uninstalled it. But, I wouldn't recommend you playing around with the DX versions. This is what your dump file say.

Code:
nvkflt
start end module name
fffff880`0425d000 fffff880`042aa000 [COLOR=red]nvkflt [/COLOR] T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: nvkflt.sys
    Image path: nvkflt.sys
    Image name: nvkflt.sys
    Timestamp: Wed Jul 02 12:49:00 2014 (53B4460C)
    CheckSum: 0004A90D

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

That is your NVIDIA Graphics filter driver which is a part of the graphics driver. I would suggest you reinstall your drivers using this method http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/327414-nvidia-drivers-avoid-problems.html That should give you the cleanest install we can get as well as not installing drivers you don't use or need which can conflict with other drivers.

You can also go here (How to install the latest version of DirectX) to make sure you have the latest Direct X version installed. See if that helps you.

Update

I ended up doing a clean install of Win 7 And updated drivers from the manufacturer for all my parts. Archeage still gave me BSODs. After some damage to system files from BSOD while I was testing things. I did a second clean install.

Both times I installed the new drivers, updated windows and DX, installed AVG Internet Security 2015 before Archeage.

I was still getting BSOD the second time, and my AVG ceased to function properly. Thus, I uninstalled it using AVG's utility.

However, I then found damage to my CBS.log running an sfc /scannow command. So i was forced to use the Upgrade Feature to repair windows and keep my files.

After restarting I tested the game again.

And lo and behold... IT WORKED! it has been working for about 12 out of the last 60 hrs with no BSOD. But I need my PC for work and cant have it running all day to test.

So far no BSOD running archeage for over 6 hrs at a time.

I have no idea why AVG would be messing with my Nvidia drivers because the BSOD was always the same error 0x000000116 and noted my Nvidia driver in the bug code. But, it seems logical that this might be the case because the only thing that really changed on my system was AVG.

Any idea why this is?

Not really except I have tried a couple of AV programs and they have given me problems, all of a different kind, but most were a conflict with other drivers or they had to have control of the whole PC. ANG is not one of the ones I tried, but still, sometimes it is just what software you use. Plus, Archage has been a problem with quite a few people here, all having BSOD problems, mostly with Archage.

If you can't isolate the error, just run some test programs, prime95, FurMark, memtest86, run them each for 3-4+ hours at least. Also try to update the drivers, BTW this BSOD error code is generally caused by corrupted GPU driver/GPU faulty. Let me know if I helped.

From the way you explained it, was the problem AVG or was it Archage? Archage has given a lot of people problems. I want you to continue using your computer normally, just as you always have, but we are goind to test the drivers. This may make your computer feel sluggish. Don't be concerned, it is supposed to and also try to make it BSOD, and hopefully trap the offending driver. I would like you to keep it ensbled for 24 hours of use or until you get a crash or two, then you can turn it off.

   Warning
Be sure to create a System Restore point before proceeding further http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
   Information

What is Driver Verifier:
It puts stress on the drivers, and tries to make the faulty driver crash the computer. It is designed this way, to attempt to trap the offending driver.

What you will notice:
It will tend to make the computer rather slow and sluggish because the drivers are being stressed.
   Warning

Before enabling DV, make sure you have created a system restore point before enabling Driver Verifier. make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Sorry it took so long to respond been a very busy examination week for me.

WOOPS! wow i just figured out that ive been running Archeage on Integrated graphics on my i7 processor and thats why it didnt crash after avg... Upon attempting my NVidia card it crashed just as it did before except quicker this time. So i have no clue why my Nvidia driver is doing this.

It is the absolute latest driver and was installed in the order recommended by my manufacturer, there has never been another graphics driver on this installation of windows aside from my integrated Intel HD 3000 driver which was needed before Nvidia drivers would install.

Pokgai, do you have switchable graphics? Most desktops don't, in fact, I can't think of one that does. Every motherboard I am familiar with, disables the on board graphics when it detects a discrete graphics card in a PCIe X16 slot. The only way I am aware of that your Intel graphics would even work at all is if you have something like VitruMVP/Lucidligix installed. That is usually enabled/disabled in BIOS and requires software to be installed.

Please update your system specs. Your computer type lists PC/Desktop but your CPU and Graphics card are Laptop models. We need accurate system specs.

It is a laptop didnt realize i left the field at PC/Desktop. When I am in Nvidia control panel it gives me the option of using integrated or dedicated graphics on individual programs.

With a laptop with Optimus technology, the problem is switching between the 2 drivers for the dedicated card and on board graphics. It does not matter which one you choose as long as you choose only one and don't switch at all. I have had better luck doing it that way than any other I have found. Now the good and the bad. If you choose the on board graphics for all the programs, you will not be able to play any of the more strenuous games. If you choose the Dedicated card, your battery life will suffer. That is what I did with my Laptop with Optimus and have had no problems. The idea is to keep it from switching at all because that is where you normally run into the problem.
