Hi guys, first time posting. I have multiple errors and am mostly ignorant of all things OS based.
The problem:
A few nights ago, I put m pc into hibernate overnight, when I came back I got a blue screen, can't remember all the errors but one of them was 0x000124. It told me to to try a restart, so I did. I havent seen the bsod since then though. When I got in, I went through and selected startup normally, and got an error, saying windows failed to start, try repair install ( see attachment). Error 0xc000000f
I did this, I put my windows 7 home premium x64 in the optical drive, and booted from there, I selected language options etc., clicked repair install, and got the message this version of system recovery options is not compatible with your version of windows (see attachment). I've tried this multiple times with no luck.
What I've tried:
Using the x86 disc, checking i didn't install te wrong one. No change
Changing the boot order in the bios so the optical is at the top
Disconnecting all hard drives except my c: disk (an ocz agility 3 solid state)
Trying it over and over several times (can't blame a man for trying)
I ran chkdsk from the DVD, on each of the disks. D: ad some orphaned files, but tha was only games Data anyway. All the other disks ad no issue, but all of the,vfailed to write the event log, quoting status 50. (see attachment)
Reading through similar things on the forum and others, but I found them very difficult to follow,and didnt understand most of them.
The situation:
Sadly the c: drive as important docs on it that I can't afford to lose, and I can't really afford to replace any hardware (I read somewhere the 124 error means hardware failure). How can I fix this problem, and preferably kit my data, and install of windows (I'd prefer to avoid a clean install if possible, because thats a day of installing faf, which I can't afford at the moment)
I also won't get a chance to really get to the shop, to buy a DVD or anything like that to make a new disk, for a week or two, though could potentially send my girlfriend). I don't currently have an external hard drive bay or spare DVD
Other info:
The CPU was over clocked from 3.3ghz to 4.8ghz, but this was stable and has been for a long time, and burned in over a 56 hour burn test, and have had no other problems with it. I have reset this back to factory settings from bios, following this issue
The windows 7 disk, is retail, I use x64, home premium. It s the as,e dal it was installed from, and I think my installation has service pack 1 installed.
Please help, all help greatly appreciated. And sorry for any typos or autocorrects that I have missed.
Addendum: I can't find how to upload the photos I took on my iPad of tHe various errors. I will try and host them somewhere and link to them from work tomorrow
I also couldn't follow the instructions for the Bsod forum, as I can't start windows to set it to create a dump file
