This has been going on for some time. It is a i7-4790k and I've had my entire first build for about 8 months. The BSOD error 0x0124 started 4 or 5 months ago and I've had absolutely no time to deal with it, I played a game here and there but not much. Now I want to get this fixed. Games it BSODs on : GTA V, Battlefield 4, Shogun 2, ARK, and a couple more. The times vary from when I start playing to the BSOD, it could be 20 minutes or a couple hours, it's random. I noticed on Battlefield 4 I only get about 5 minutes on it before it BSODs.

My processor is still under warranty, I bought it at a Fry's Electronics. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Send it in to Intel?

If your computer has ever been on the internet the odds of your system not being infected is slim to none.

Antivirus NONE

A infected computer can and will cause all kinds of problems.

I will go back to watching and see what are BSOD Team find.
They are very busy so just hang in there.

From the MSINFO file Jack it looks like the OP has McAfee installed so hopefully that's cleared that one up. Having said that DAEMON Tools Pro is also installed which is never a good thing.

filthyd, there are no dump files in your logs. Follow the instructions below to set you system to record Minidumps and uninstall DAEMON Tools Pro.

  1. Open Advanced System Settings
  2. Click on Settings in Startup & Recovery
  3. Make sure both boxes indicated below are checked
  4. In the dropdown box ensure you're set to record Small Memory Dumps

Uninstall Daemon Tools, a proven cause of BSODs.

1. Uninstall Daemon Tools via Add/Remove Programs.
2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and perform the following steps.
3. Double click the executable to open it.
4. Click the button shown below.

   Information
If the button it is grayed out as shown in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system and you can just close the window.

I uninstalled Daemon Tools but when trying to download the SPTD installer, google chrome won't let me because it believes that it's malicious, I could try from Internet Explorer. Also the McAfee I have is just a security scan and firewall protection, not actual protection from viruses and spyware or internet protection. I do use Windows Defender though.

The BSOD issue has improved but not fixed, instead of 5 minutes of gameplay on BF4 I get about an hour now, maybe a little more.

I did what you said with the minidump but I'm still unable to find the location of the minidump, I checked Windows and there is no minidump folder, if it even has dumped. The only thing coming up is this C:\Users\Jason\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ueygj3uy.default

Any more help? Thank you

The SPTD tool isn't malicious, hundreds of people on here have used it so you're good to go with that. As for your protection it seems you have no AV at all, Defender is not an AV. My advice here would be to uninstall McAfee and Defender and install MS Security Essentials and MalwareBytes.

   Note
Make sure you uncheck the 'Enable Free Trial' box when installing.

If you've changed your settings to record Small Memory Dumps you'll need to wait for the next BSOD then run the DM Log Collector again to capture it and upload it into a new post.

There are still no dumps in the logs, can you post a screenshot of what was in the folder? It looks like it was just a shortcut.

It is a shortcut, I figured it would've still got to you. I tried attaching it to here from it's root but I can't 'access' it. I tried to compress and zip it as well but it wouldn't allow me.

The dump is a partially corrupt 0x117 indicating a problem with your GPU, it does name your nVidia driver. Given that you've been experiencing 0x124s (which are nearly always down to faulty hardware) I'd suggest stress testing the GPU.

:ar: Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.
   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them, if the temperature continues to rise steadily once it has reached 80°C be prepared to stop the test so as to not damage your GPU.

I've run Furmark for 12 minutes and 12 seconds. Nothing has happened, the degrees got up to and stays at 85°C. I'm sure what I should have looked for, there was no BSOD. I am going to retry with 8X MSAA Anti-aliasing on. I'm also unsure where to find the logs for Furmark

After a BSOD last night, I restarted my computer to this screen popping up, it's happened before but I forgot about it. Guessing it's a CPU issue? Thinking about it now I have stress tested my CPU a while back and it BSOD'd. Should I test it again?

I wasn't looking at my computer screen when it finished but it closed itself and found this on my desktop. 3 out of 4 of the CPU cores got to 100°C, the other got to 99°C. It seems like everything is good from the tests but it still BSODs. I remember the last time I ran the test with Prime95 it ended up BSODing. It might have been on Blend and not small FFTs.

I think we're going to have to start troubleshooting your GPU. Can you uninstall it via Device Manager then physically remove it from the PC. Clean it out to ensure there's no dust or muck in the fan then re-fit it ensuring it's fully seated and the power connectors are connected properly. Reboot and install the latest driver.

Your CPU temps are way too hot, 100°C is deadly for a CPU.What type of CPU cooler do you have?

Also what PSU do you have?

I don't have time today to take out my GPU and clean it, and look for any defects but I will get around to it tomorrow, which in my time zone will be Saturday. Considering that I sometimes get the American Megatrends black screen, could it be CPU related as well? My CPU fan is stock, I should buy a aftermarket fan, I will this weekend. My PSU is a Corsair AX860. I highly doubt this could be an issue but running Blend, tests lots of RAM, could it be defective RAM? Or the CPU and RAM combined causing issues?

I know you're telling me it's GPU related but I'm just throwing stuff out there. I will check it tomorrow though, I just don't see how it could be GPU related if a stress test ran fine.

This is unrelated but I have an HDD I've been wanting to install but I will wait until I get a new CPU fan so I can do both at once.

I cleaned my entire PC yesterday from dust, including my Graphics card, re installed drivers and all and still BSOD'd. I did a 10 and a half hour test on my RAM and it passed 5 times.
