Hello,

Starting about a week ago, my PC occasionally crashed with BCCode: 1000007e and I need to restart it. I have run anti-virus programs every day and just did a Malwarebytes in Safe Mode. No infected files found.

Attached is my BSOD zip file.

Any suggestions/comments will be much appreciated. Thank you.

As I recalled, this problem came almost right after I did the last month;s MS updates. I don't know if anyone has the same problem or not.

Thank you.

Sorry, I thought it was there. Here it is again.

Also I ran a Dell Diagnostic test and it came up this failed test result:

Hardware type: Intel(R) HD Graphics 520
Diagnostic Name: Primary Surface Test
Result: Failed

I did a Bluescreen Analysis test in Dell website and it found critical errors. It wanted me to run a Bluescreen Troubleshooting. I clicked on the link but nothing happened. Called Dell and they asked me to buy a Software Warranty for $149!
Any other suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thank you

Please run the DM Log Collector again and upload a new zip, the current uploaded one misses several logs.
You could check if there are
  1. 18 .txt,
  2. 1 .nfo,
  3. 1 or more .dmp,
files present, if this is the case then all logs are present :)
If there are a few missing, no problem as we can get them manually if required :)

Hello,

I just want to give more information. The Dell Bluescreen Analysis results showed the following warning:

0x1000007E_0xFFFFFFFFC0000005__0xFFFFF88001019EAE__0xFFFFF8801F97A7C8__0xFFFFF8801F97A020_C__Windows_system32_drivers_volsnap_sys, 0x1000007E_0xFFFFFFFFC0000005__0xFFFFF88001619EAE__0xFFFFF8800D3A47C8__0xFFFFF8800D3A4020_C__Windows_system32_drivers_volsnap_sys, 0x1000007E_0xFFFFFFFFC0000005__0xFFFFF88001619EAE__0xFFFFF8801F0B57C8__0xFFFFF8801F0B5020_C__Windows_system32_drivers_volsnap_sys, 0x1000007E_0xFFFFFFFFC0000005__0xFFFFF8800168CEAE__0xFFFFF8801E5167C8__0xFFFFF8801E516020_C__Windows_system32_drivers_volsnap_sys

Hope this will help to identify my issues. I can still start my system. Only that it crashed every 4 or 5 hours.

Thank you.

Run this code in an admin command prompt (copy/paste), it should add at least about 8 files on the desktop. Zip these files and upload the zip. FYI, this is an alternative for the collection issue. Another FYI, it is 8 files with 1 minidump, more minidumps = more files.
Code:
type %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts >> "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\hosts.txt"&dxdiag /t %Temp%\dxdiag.txt&copy %Temp%\dxdiag.txt "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\"&copy %SystemRoot%\minidump\*.dmp "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\"&driverquery /v > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\drivers.txt"&msinfo32 /nfo "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\msinfo32.nfo"&wevtutil qe System /f:text > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\eventlog.txt"&systeminfo > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\systeminfo.txt"

Hello,

I am sorry haven't posted any updates as have been out of town for a few weeks.

I used a Blue Screen viewer and saw some of the details, here's one:

I have researched about volsnap.sys and couldn't find any solution. Is there anyway to update the driver, maybe it'll solve the issue.

Thank you.

Also I have an old Windows 7 Pro Dell laptop and still have its volsnap driver in it, but is an older version than the one in my new laptop. Is it possible to copy that one into the new laptop? Will that solve this issue?

Thank you.

There is a basic answer for Windows drivers, they are NEVER the cause.
If Windows drivers were the cause then Windows wouldn't be used by so many.

The crash WAS NOT caused by the Windows driver and copy/pasting the driver from another system will NOT solve the issue.

Thank you, Axe0,

So when it said the issue was caused by the driver: volsnap.sys

What does that actually mean?

Thank you again for your prompt reply.

OS
Windows 7 X64
First, the root cause cannot be found without analyzing the dump.

What it means is that the volsnap.sys driver was the last driver doing something when the crash occured. However this doesn't mean that the volsnap.sys driver is the cause. The volsnap.sys driver is a file system driver, it is used for the volume shadow copy service (VSS)
