Hey guys, It's been a long time since I've last posted here. Anyway, I came back to ask for solutions with regards to the problem I'm currently experiencing. Last night, after installing Max Payne 3 on my C:\ drive (146 GB capacity, 15-20% free space after install), I was about to close a few open windows and suddenly the screen went crashing and then BSOD. I thought this only happened that night but it happened for 3 times the following day and I find it alarming. I have installed BlueScreenView and it here's what I have found out: Note: I'm not good at analyzing BSODs. Specs Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit ASUS P5KPL-AM SE Motherboard Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.33 GHz AMD Radeon HD 5450 GPU @ 1GB 320GB HDD SATA

Hi,
Firstly I would suggest installing Windows Service Pack 1 as it will increase system stability.
Then once installed please run Windows Updates and install all the latest updates.

:ar: http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/install-windows-7-service-pack-1
:ar: http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows/service-packs-download#sptabs=win7

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

   Tip
Run these tests overnight

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Also run chkdsk in an elevated command prompt in order to check for file system errors and bad sectors on your HDD:

  • Click on Start>Type in search cmd
  • Right click cmd and Run as Administrator
  • At the command prompt please type: chkdsk /f/r
(There is a space between chkdsk and /f/r)

Post back if you recieve another BSOD after SP1 and updates installed, following these instructions:

:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

   Tip
Ensure you click the "GRAB ALL" button and then wait for each window to appear in turn and then click OK

Also have you tried uninstalling Max Payne, and see if the issue remains?

Cheers

Dave

Hello,

I have updated to Service Pack 1 and installed all the latest updates and it looks like the BSOD has gone away. But here's another problem, I did a System File Check (SFC) to verify the integrity of my system files after the upgrade but it brings up an error: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them".

Here's my CBS.log file for you to analyze and point which is causing the problem.

Thanks

Hi,

You may have to run the scan 3 times:

Run SFC again to check the integrity of all Windows 7 system files:
  • Click on Start > Type in search cmd
Right-click cmd after results are displayed and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow at the prompt
(Note: There is a space between SFC and /scannow)
:ar: SFC Tutorial

   Note
Select option two. If any problems are found, run the scan 3 times and immediately
reboot the computer after each scan.

Let me know the outcome, and if it is still unable to repair, I will ask another member to look
at the CBSlogs for you.

cheers

Dave
