First, I stalled 3 sticks of 2Gb RAM Patriot brand. I started getting BSoD. So I thought maybe there was a bad stick or the brand was not compatible so I exchanged those for 3 sticks of 2Gb RAM Corsair Brand. I am still getting BSoD so I don't think its because of bad RAM. I've noticed that since I have been getting BSoD that Firefox has started crashing too on occasion. There is also a program that whenever I try to open, it crashes. In the crash report, it says Locale ID 1033 so I'm not sure if it's related to my BSOD error or not. Just trying to give as much info as I can.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3

My computer finally BS'd again. Before I go through with all this testing, do you really think its a bad RAM stick? I mean, what are the chances that I get 2 brand new sets of RAM and I get BS with both sets? And the Corsair RAM looked like it was manufactured at NASA.

Did the attached dump file have any useful info in it?

thank you.

BTW, I get different messages everytime my computer crashes. MEMORY_DUMP was the first one that I noticed. Now I set my BIOS so that it doesn't restart immediately so now I can read the error messages. Another one was: QUOTA OVERFLOW. I forgot what the last one was but it was different. Are you sure this is a RAM issue?

Reason I asked for the bios version is to see if we could update the bios and you already have the most current version .

:ADDED:

Had someone look at your dump files and the results

:ar: dxgmms1.sys - reinstall Direct X
Download

:ar: Firefox - update to the most recent Firefox 19.0.2

:ar: SUPERANTISPYWA- reinstall SuperAntiSpyware

Thank you. I will try those suggestions. Meantime, I ran the mem test for about 11 hours last night. It seems it would never end. Please find attached, a photo of my screen.

The memory PASSED that's good . Can you upload any BSOD you get ?

Run SFC /scannow

Open elevated command prompt . Click on the :orb: button type CMD in the Search programs and files box and right click on CMD under Programs (1) and choose Run as administrator . When the UAC window comes up click on Yes . Inside the command prompt type

Code:
SFC /scannow

Hmm... I wonder if the Direct X update was the problem?? Haven't Blue screened for a few days.

@ Dave: Thanks for your suggestion but I am scared to death of updating windows or installing SPs unless I absolutely have to. My experience is when I try to update windows when it is working fine, that's when things start to go haywire. Last time I did that, I lost all sound permanently. Had to upgrade to Win7 to fix. Would rather not do it unless its my last option.

Hi,
Thats entirely upto you, but in my experience No Service Pack 1 can cause the system to
become unstable, cause Performance & Security issues etc.

You could set a system restore point before installing SP1, then if it causes issues, you can
resore back to the point before you installed. (Gentle persuasion into installing SP1 :))

Hope this helps

Blue Screen just now while loading iTunes: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

Not sure if its related to iTunes loading or not.

Please note:

  • I got blue screen with brand new 6Gb Patriot RAM.
  • I get blue screen now with brand new 6Gb Corsair RAM
  • I don't get blue screen when I run the 4Gb RAM that came with the computer (One 1Gb stick x 4 slots).

My (2Gb sticks) RAM are in the correct slots (1, 2, & 4).

@ Dave. Thank you. Maybe some day.

Just Blue screened AGAIN! Right after opening Skype. Do you think it's because my empty slot? I should be able to run 6Gb according to specs but maybe it needs to be all 4 slots? I really dont want to buy another stick only to have it still blue screening. WDYT?

I already did that for 11 hours last week. No errors. All tests passed. 9 passes I think. The mini dump doesn't point to exactly what the problem is? Shall I upload recent mini dumps?
