Hello,

I am sure I installed all drivers and updates for my computer...might have missed something, because today when I went to watch a video, my computer had a BSOD. I reformatted a couple of days ago I don't think I missed any updates or drivers, I may be wrong. I've included a zip file of the minidump, please see attached. Thank you in advance for your help, it's much appreciated!

Respectfully,

Al

Hi Golden,

I ran the memtest with 7 passes, no errors.

I also ran the video card stress test for 30 minutes, it and my graphics card stay at around 89 to 92 degrees Celsius while running FurMark. I didn't notice the screen chunking a little, but I'm not sure this was a visual artifact. Just seemed to be slightly skipping when the FurMark window was open and that orange eye, or round flame was going. This was happened towards the end of the test.

I just finished the IntelBurnTest, and had a max of 60.5 degrees Celsius. The max temperature that is allowed for my CPU is 62 degrees Celsius. This was a standard test.

So what are your thoughts on these numbers?

Thank you!

essenbe is me. Hi, allenschroeder, I'll see if I can lend a little help, but first I would like you to fill out your system specs. You can click the 'User CP' at the top of this page and select system specs from the column on the left, or you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of your last post and there will be a link there to update system specs. Just be sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to see what we need, you can click my system specs at the bottom left of this post and see mine. We need them in as much detail as possible. If you have an OEM computer, please include whether it is a laptop or Desktop and the Model number. It will go a long way to help us help you. If you need help filling them out, this will help you. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

The temp for your CPU is pretty high if it has a TJ Max of 62 and the video card sounded a little high to me also, depending on which CPU and card you have. In your system specs, please include that as well as the PSU Manufacturer and model number. Furmark is supposed to be a furry doughnut with a pattern in the background. I will be more than happy to show you what it should look like if you wish.

If you would, please go into your BIOS and tell me the Values for the +12V, +5V and +3.3V. It is usually found in a section called monitoring or hardware something similar.
Also, if you would, please download and install CPUz and post screenshots ( http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html ) of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory and SPD tabs. The SPD tabs have a dropdown box at the upper left to select each Dimm slot. I only need the Dimm slots that are populated with ram.

I've updated my system specs.

Here are the BIOS values, after waking up my computer:
  1. VCORE - 1.328V
  2. 3.3V = 3.280V
  3. 5V = 4.999V
  4. 12V = 11.904V

Your voltages look fine. If you have any stability problems with the ram, changing the Command Rate (CR) from 1T to 2T makes it more stable, with your cooler I would have thought your CPU temps would be a little lower in Intel Burn Test on standard. But, IBT will run the heat up considerably and I'm sure you don't see those temps in Real Life applications or Gaming. Unless I'm mistaken, 65 is the shut down temp for that CPU to protect itself from the heat, so you are kind of close. Cooler Master usually has good cases with good airflow, so that shouldn't be a problem for you. The 5870 runs pretty hot, and Furmark is designed to heat it up quickly. The 92 temp you quoted is about the max you want to see for the card and I would think you should keep it down to 85 or below. You can set custom fan profiles to keep the temp down with several programs. 90 is common for that card during stress testing, but the artifacting should not be happening. You may see if setting a custom fan profile could keep the temps to around 85 and see if you still get the artifacting, but again, at 90 it should not be artifacting. Those are my thoughts. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If I don't know the answer I will find someone who does.

Thank you so much for your help Essenbe!

What program, if any, should I use to set a custom fan profile? Or is that something I set in the BIOS? I know there is a way to do that, and I think my motherboard, has a system called"Cool & Quiet" which is an automated fan system, but I can totally change that to keep the cooler, I don't mind the sound, I have significant hearing loss, so it doesn't matter. If you have any programs that you recommend for changing fan speeds, any redirection so helpful. Somewhere in one of my posts I had talked about artifacting, but I'm not sure that it actually was, it just seemed to be chunking a little. That little orange donut didn't look as smooth, and when I moved the window around on the screen, it sort of chunked a little, or skipped. Anyways, so overall, this appears to be some type of overheating going on.

That card you have is a good card, but it is also extremely hot. To give you an example, my GTX 780 can run Furmark and never hit 70. I don't say that to brag or anything, but to show you how hot your card runs. It is just the 5000 cards have always run hot. You didn't say in your system specs which manufacturer your card is, but most come with a utility for monitoring and overclocking. Most of those utilities can set a custom fan profile and most are built based on MSI Afterburner, which is a free download. If you don't have a utility or can't find one from your manufacturer, download MSI Afterburner. It is basically an overclocking utility as are most of the manufacturer's utilities, but they also have some very good monitoring features as well as allowing you to set custom profiles. You can use it and not overclock the card. I wouldn't recommend you overclocking your card, as it gets hot enough as it is.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
