Solved BSOD after restarting when installed ATI drivers

Installing the ATI driver works but after the reboot when i'm supposed to log in, my computer gets BSOD. After the BSOD the graphics drivers disappear/uninstalls/disables.

The cycle of what's happening. Installing/unistalling - rebooting - logging i... BSOD!! - rebooting - logging in - "works" with some strange resolution.

So the problem is that i can't fully uninstall/install it. i'm trapped in this vicious circle lol

What i've updated/installed.
*BIOS
*DirectX
*D3D11
*vcredist sp1
*Every update from Windows

Info in attached files

I've had this problem as well. "What I did" If you can log in to Safe Mode uninstall all AMD Catalyst drivers and the manager. Set folders to show hidden files and delete the AMD folders in programs and program data folders. I uninstalled the display driver through devise manager or roll it back to the standard VGA driver and reboot. You may want to download your catalyst package from another pc and have it ready. Or use the AMD auto detect program from AMD/support.com This worked for me. Sometimes the installation gets corrupt if you've tried installing it several times. Hope this helps ya.

Ahh! I've been there. Another trouble shootier you can try is swapping out your memory modules. One of them could be damaged or becoming damaged. If thats the case it will be an easy fix. Simple test to run though. take one out and boot. if you get the same bsod switch to the other module and try it. The video seem to lean towards memory causing a lot of the blues screens.

I managed to install an ATI graphic driver! But now is the problem that when i'm trying to start a game I get BSOD.

(How i managed to install it. I inactivated and then activated my graphic card(s) in device manager. Then I restarted and activated it. Simple as that. (feeling dumb, lol) But the BSOD problem is still here/there)

Thanks for the detailed explanation but I've already done this. I've managed to install an ATI graphic card driver but i'm still having the BSOD problem. Now it's happening when I start a game or running FurMark.

Maybe i've missed some driver or update. Can someone make list of what should be uppdated/installed/downloaded to a new-installed computer?

This is what I've fixed:
*BIOS
*Chipset
*Graphic card driver
*DirectX
*.NET Framework 4 (Windows update)
*Microsoft Visual 2005/20082010 x32 & x64 (SP1) (Windows update)
*Flash
*Java
*Every Windows update

If you are going to use Driver Sweeper, it should be done in the correct sequence. Driver Sweeper can cause problems on systems making it difficult to re-install a driver, so be warned that you use it with some risk involved.

If you do use it, create a restore point, download Driver Sweeper, uninstall the driver through device manager as I indicated in my previous post, restart your computer, start in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html, run Driver Sweeper, restart in normal mode, and then install the latest driver.

I kind of managed to fix the BSOD's now! I can now play games and run benchmarks etc. All i did was that i uninstalled the graphic cards in device manager, then run Driver Sweeper, restarted again in VGA mode, activated this one and disactivated that one, then installed the ATI driver and restarted. (something like that)

BUT.. is this right?
Should it look like this?
Am I only using half of my graphic card?

Do you have two graphics cards? If you only have one, then you now have two drivers and the one that is working is allowing your system to stay stable. I do not know if this will cause future conflicts. Your methodology is very strange if it caused a phantom card to show up. Guess it depends on whether you actually have two cards or one.

I have support for two graphics cards but i'm only using one. ATI Radeon HD 3870 x2. It's two ATI Radeon HD 3870 integrated into one = x2. I've read something like that.

Before i reinstalled my computer, both of "them" (in the device manager) where activated (maybe not, only phantom as you said) and have been so since 2008 until that re-installation. I have'nt experienced any performance failure compared to before the installation so i'm not going to fix anything. I'm just so damn happy that i finaly can play games and that BSOD is gone!

If this is wrong and it's cutting down the prestanda please respond

Thanks for the support so far!

Nah, it could just be that Furmark does not know how to handle an integrated graphics card such as yours. I have never tested this hypothesis, so I may be wrong. If anyone else knows better, please post and let us both know. :)

As to just being happy it is stable, I'm with you. Do not change a thing. :D Best wishes!
