Solved BSOD at Login after putting in password

Hi Windows Vista 64 bit home premieum goes into a fault loop and drops to the blue screen of death on an Acer Aspire 5517, its dragging really badly as if a heavy load is on it when it boots causeing a segfault and memory dump. any ideas on a rescue fix for this issue? if so please tell me i have been working on this problem for 29 hrs straight and have run out of tries!

Boot into http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html, safe mode with networking. Then post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

First, scan for possible virus infection.

Then Uninstall Avira, and use Microsoft Security essentials.



And, as your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Thank you guys for taking the time to help i will see if this works
its wierd because fixit is showing even the recycle bin as corrupted
the rootkit from kapersky caught one maybe that was the fix i needed!!
i hope so

Have you swapped the antivirus?

What it results after a reboot?

have not swapped the AV but after kapersky caught the rootkit virus it booted back up faster and didnt blue screen after login
i have been fighting this blue screen for 3 days thank you
i think its fixed

Also the crash was happening before I installed Avira
Just praying its not a hardware failure

Whatever, AVIRA is not any antivirus. It cannot protect you at all. Get rid of it, for good. You may opt for Microsoft security essentials, you may opt for the free avast, but not AVIRA, AVG or McAfee. Anyway, I may suggest based on my experience, decision is obviously your.

When you will find that the issue is over, mark the thread as solved. And, after the rootkit, there should not be any, apparently.

If you dont want to use use microsoft security essentials, use Free Avast.

But AVG is not an alternative,

It was not a big issue, just a wrong antivirus was there maybe.
