Hello,

I get a BSOD while trying to install Adobe Illustrator CS4. When I load the disk, I click run autoplay. As soon as I click install everything freezes and it immediately goes to the blue screen. I have installed different programs before via dvd drive and everything went ok. It Only seems to happen with this one.

I have a Toshiba a505-s6033

Any and all help is much appreciated thank you.

These were caused by PxHlpa64.sys (part of MS movie maker app).

All of these were Bugcheck 3b

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

I suggest

1- run memtest to test your memory
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

2-re-install the video driver

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

3-Update the drivers listed below

Code:

Hello again,

Thanks everyone for the help. I ran memtest and let it go for 6 full passes and no errors were found. I then reinstalled my GPU driver and used driver sweeper to clean the files. Installed the most recent one.

I was wondering if I could get some help with updating the drivers zigzag has mentioned in his third step. Do I need to search for each file to update or is there a program or website that could help me out.

How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper
