BSOD & cannot copy, paste, delete or rename files and folders

(you know what? BSOD just happened right before i click the submit button. -_-* luckily Chrome's restored back this page and i don't have to type everything again..)

BSOD started like a week ago. I've been trying to find ways of why it happened or what to do stuff, found one, tried it but to no avail.. and my pc really crashes a lot. I found this place a few days ago and read a few posts. Read the posting instructions for BSOD and i downloaded the SF Diagnostic Tool. I've attached the zip file.

That's one problem. The second problem is, on 1st November i found out that i could not rename any files that i wanted and i was using safe mode too. so i tried to play around with cut, copy, paste or delete and nothing happens. except for cut maybe, because it greyed out when i cut but it won't copy to anywhere else. even if i use drag and drop nothing happens. the same goes for copy-paste with keyboards. no errors warnings or messages, it just does nothing. my recycle bin seems so lonely nowadays..

oh, i've tried some of the methods suggested in some pages here by using unlocker or lockhunter but ... though it seems i can rename the files now by using lockhunter.

the result for SF Diagnostic Tool didn't go to my desktop either. it ended up in my other disk not OS.

Any kind of help is really really appreciated..

Try it.

Even if you are able to boot into http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html, safe mode with networking, try to collect and upload the dumps.

thanks for the suggestion. i don't really have problems with rebooting but still tried what you asked and after that it blackout on me a few times.. the screen just go totally blank. but i also noticed that BSOD only happened when i'm using the internet. and as of late i got the 'SNAP!' page a lot. followed what it says on the page but to no avail..

but i've found a program that i could delete some of my media files though.. by using Picasa. never thought it could help. but i still need help regarding copy/paste problem. i have a lot of files i need to copy to my external harddisk. if i could do that i don't mind reformatting the pc, really.

There are various different crashes with various different causes.

But one thing you are to do at first and at once.
► Uninstall BOTH McAfee and AVG.
Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

► Driver Verifier.
You have enabled it. Though it also failed to give any tress of anything. Now disable it.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Free up the startup.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept the restart.

► Scan the system for possible virus infection.

• Windows Defender Offline

Let us know the results. If still it is crashing, we are to think it alternatively.

sigh... i've been trying to uninstall McAfee and AVG for the past 2 days to no avail.
McAfee is gone except for McAfee Security Center. i've been trying to click the uninstall button but nothing happens. but AVG no matter how many times i uninstall it, it still around. every single times i've waited until it says uninstall successful, please restart now but every time i restart it's still there. and i do believe AVG is the culprit for all the crashes because when i disable it, i could use the internet for a long time, like hours instead of less than half an hour before it crashes. but still whenever anything AVG related came out on screen everything just hanged or simply crashed. i don't know how else to uninstall them. please help?

i forgot to mentioned that i've downloaded both MSE and MBAM before, after reading about them from one of the pages here. i couldn't install MSE because everytime i clicked it open it says "Error: 0x800b0001". and i've done a quick scan with MBAM, will run a full scan later. still i need some help about how to uninstall those antiviruses. thanks in advance!

McAfee is gone, AVG too. MBAM full scan done, no threats found. Still cannot install MSE, the error message still comes out. Cannot reset Windows Update either, the same error message came out. Am still finding some solution on that matter. BSOD is not as often as before but still crashes once or twice a day. But in the mean time, can you please suggest a good antivirus? Found too many names but not sure which one is good..

Avast free antivirus with windows firewall is a good alternative.
