BSOD caused by iaStor.sys

I tried ctrl-i, no luck - I have an HP pavilion dv7, from the looks of it it seems HP are limiting controls to prevent overclocking...

Argh!
Look and don't blink with your eyes. Nothing on firts screen with HP logo, or just after it? Most of the time on bottom of screen. Nothing like press ctrl-i to enter raid or something similar. maybe ctrl-n as someone else wrote

There is no HP logo, just a black screen and in the lower left corner it says "Press esc for HP options", then goes straight to windows loading. This just seems to be a diagnosis menu with no options to change anything, I will go get a screen shot.

HP seemd to have locked the BIOS settings indeed. I wanted you to change to AHCI mode and use the standard win7 drivers..... but impossible with locked bios

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61869-ahci-enable-windows-7-vista.html

I did a google, and people seem to think AHCI is enabled by default on this model.
Sure?? I read it as well. But others say RAID. Yours "device management" tells it s RAID

try safe mode (if working at all) and clean boot as told above

Sorry, I am in New Zealand and it was 4am so I got some sleep!

I did the rootkit scan, and it found nothing.

I have done a clean and safe boot, neither crashed.

So! I think that might be good sign?

EDIT: The crash has stopped happening altogether now. This is pretty annoying because no changes where made that I can think of... So basically I have no idea if and when it will happen again.

EDIT Again: Right so crashes started again, and happened in both safe mode and clean boot. Damn.

If you can boot with a clean boot, follow the clean boot instructions to find the cause of your problem and try to fix it.

The crash has stopped happening spontaneously, so I will have to wait for it to appear again and retest the clean boot I guess.

Just popping in with a bit of info:

Some HPs were shipped with AMD RAIDXpert (or some similar name), and in order to access the RAID features at boot you needed to press Ctrl+F.

And it has started happening again, damn.

Please confirm... problem also happens when booting into safe mode?
ALWAYS after about 10 minutes of not using computer?
In other situations it doesn't happen at all.

Yes happened in safe mode aswell. Happens after a few mins if no activity, when watching movies it doesn't happen as often, maybe once every 20 mins.

Disable standby mode or set it to 1 hour just as test. Same problem?

Or force computer to go into standby mode. Same BSOD?
