BSOD Computer only runs in Safe Mode

Unfortunately there is no crash dump file in the supplied zip. Still, you may try the following:

Free up the startup.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept the restart.

Uninstall Trend Micro. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Uninstall these factory bloatwares, too.

• Start Menu\Programs\ASUS
• Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\AsusVibe
• Start Menu\Programs\ASUS Utility
• Start Menu\Programs\ASUS Utility\ASUS Splendid Utility
• Start Menu\Programs\ASUS Utility\SmartLogon

Thanks for your help so far. Only the Malware one found something. The Microsoft one found nothing. Full scan in both cases.

See attached. My computer rebooted again when typing this message the first time.

OK, I want to have another close look. Please post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions. It may not contain the crash dumps, but the other information will help us to draw an inference, most probably.

It took me three power ups to be able to get this. It kept rebooting. I'm running in safe mode with networking now. One of the three boot ups to get the attached files triggered a chkdsk. Thanks.

update the network drivers. Last time you haven't done it.
First, download the network card driver from manufactuer's website.

• Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 6150: Intel Download Center
• Intel 6250 WiMAX Wireless LAN Driver: Intel Download Center

Then reinstall the driver:

1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Menu Search box and press Enter.
2. Double click to expand "Network adaptors".
3. Right click your network card and click Uninstall.
4. Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK.
5. Restart the computer

Scan the system for possible virus infection with these programs.

• Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
• Windows Defender Offline

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
If it fails, or you cannot boot into your desktop, try SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

First attempt at a full clean install:

Kept the recovery partition from ASUS. Tried to install to the OS partition. As soon as the install finished, the computer rebooted itself (failed).

I am trying again and will wipe out the entire HD. I created recovery disks anyway.

I reinstalled the driver for the network adapter and am now installing all of the windows updates. Do you think I should stop there or start adding all the wireless drivers too?

It seems to be running fine right now so I don't want to screw it up. ?

Unfortunately neither of the zips contain any crash dump.

Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.
