Hello!

For the last couple of months I've been experiencing BSOD crashes randomly. (or so they seem) I've brought my computer to a professional who ran hardver tests but found nothing. The crashes carried on though. Firstly they occured when I played Dota2 (no other games caused a problem). When I was full of it I tried updating all my drivers manually, as Windows Update couldn't find any updates available. That seemed to "solve" the problem, the BSODs were infrequent, sometimes I haven't had them for weeks. Now as of yesterday I had multiple BSODs when just browsing. Yes, I had many tabs opened in my browser. And when the computer reboots there is often a second crash just after getting the message "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown".Another thing which is happening that Firefox is crashing a lot lately (as of yesterday also) even when I don't have many tabs open just 1 or 2. I tried switching to Chrome after a BSOD and immediately after I opened Chrome (couldn't even load properly) I got BSOD. And this is the point when I came to see your help, I'm totally clueless. My BSODs had all kind of error messages I will list the most frequent ones:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
(most frequent),
SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(only got this once, today when opening Chrome)

I've attached the log file as instructed. Please help if you can. Thank you in advance!

Tomi

Hello, baksatomi and welcome to the Forums. I will try to help you if I can. First, can you tell me why Driver Verifier is enabled?

Code:
DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID:  VERIFIER_ENABLED_VISTA_MINIDUMP

Please disable Driver Verifier. This will tell you how. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Most of what I am seeing in the last few dumps are

Code:
BugCheck D1, {b, 2, 1, fffff880072f3675}
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys
Probably caused by : nvlddmkm.sys ( nvlddmkm+6c675 )
Followup: MachineOwner

Which is your Graphics Driver. But the ones that concern me most are

Code:
Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.
BugCheck A, {fffff8800c203228, 2, 0, fffff80002f27347}
[COLOR=red]Probably caused by : memory_corruption[/COLOR] ( nt!MiIdentifyPfn+317 )
Followup: MachineOwner

and

Code:
[COLOR=red]SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION (c1)[/COLOR]
Special pool has detected memory corruption. Typically the current thread's
stack backtrace will reveal the guilty party.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffff98033e58fb0, address trying to free
Arg2: fffff98033e585cd, address where one bit is corrupted
Arg3: 0000000000cb4058, (reserved)
Arg4: 0000000000000032, caller is freeing an address where nearby bytes within the same page have a single bit error

Memory corruption can cause every dump file to be unreliable, so I would like to check that first.

Please Run Memtest86+
picture.php

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes all at one time or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes all run at one time to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Please let us know the results.

Just so you are aware, 8 GB of Ram will take around 9.5-10 Hours to run 8 passes. That is why we always suggest you begin the test at night and let it run all night. If you notice even 1 error you can stop the test. Even 1 error is a failure.

Hello essenbe!
Thank you for your reply! I've disabled driver verifier, I have no idea why it was enabled. I will run Memtest tonight, so it can run for as long as needed. I will let you know the results tomorrow.

OK, that is great. Just do it whenever you have time and let me know your results. Just so you know, Driver Verifier tries to make your PC BSOD. It puts a great amount of stress on the drivers and can also make your computer kind of slow and sluggish. So, you should notice a little better performance now, since you disabled Driver Verifier.

I was unable to boot memtest86+ from a pendrive. The auto installer finished without issues, I let it format the USB drive, but when I tried to boot I just got a black screen and a flashing cursor then after a few seconds it went on with boting from HDD. Tried another USB stick there I got the error message: Operating system is missing. I will ty and burn it to a CD tonight and try again. I had no BSOD issues since i disabled driver verifier though. (Will do memtest anyway and publish the results here)

OK, but it should have booted. I'm not sure why it didn't.
