I am getting a BSOD ("driver power state failure") every few days. I'm not 100% sure, but it seems to only occur when I leave my computer for a while (after the display has automatically turned off). I come back to the computer, and am met by a BSOD.

My power plan settings are at "balanced", with the display turning off after 10 minutes, and sleeping after 30 minutes.

Might not be related, but I also commonly get freezing every now and then when watching full-screen videos (for a few minutes the display freezes and the audio slows down to garbled distortion, then returns).

The SF Diagnostic Tool only found .dmp from 2011, is Kernel memory dump enough?

Hi -

All the dumps present are of year 2011.

Please follow this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html and configure to collect Small Memory .Dmps (Minidumps) and post when you get a BSOD again.

For some reason, SF Diagnostic isn't pulling more recent .dmp files (well, they are not being created at all as I looked in the Minidump folder). I have "small memory dump (256 KB)" set in my system settings. The file location is correct. I have restarted my computer since updating the settings. I have a paging file of 4000MB. What's going on?

I have uploaded the most recent SF zip - but I don't see a .dmp after my BSOD today?

On the actual BSOD it says "collecting data for crash dump.... physical memory dump complete" etc. Yet all my .dmp files are from 2011 (including the MEMORY.DMP kernel file, which is what my settings were previously at).

What my BSOD actually says:

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

STOP: 0x0000009F (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8004A91E30, 0xFFFFF800044193D8, 0XFFFFFA80057BEC00)

I'm not sure if that's gonna fix itself.

Anyway, please carry out these steps:

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\avast! Free Antivirus	Public:Start Menu\Programs\avast! Free Antivirus	Public
Start Menu\Programs\Check Point	Public:Start Menu\Programs\Check Point	Public
Start Menu\Programs\Check Point\ZoneAlarm	Public:Start Menu\Programs\Check Point\ZoneAlarm	Public
Avast! and Zone Alarm contribute in BSOD's. Please remove them using their removal tool from here: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase. If no uninstaller's available. Download and install Revo uninstaller from this link: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Uninstall the programs using Advanced Mode and delete the left over registry entries of both.

My friend said you have software which should be uninstalled, please follow this:
There's a Glary utility installed to adjust the screen brightness - it needs to be uninstalled.
F.lux "c:\users\zoe\local settings\apps\f.lux\flux.exe" /noshow Zoe-Vostro\Zoe HKU\S-1-5-21-933214814-1875408538-519916486-1000\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

We recommended Microsoft Security Essentials from a strict BSOD perspective. Is most compatible & provides most stability compared to other antivirus app/Internet Security Software.
   Warning
Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Perform a System File Check to check the integrity of all protected Windows 7 :
  1. Click on the start :orb:
  2. Type CMD on Search
  3. Left click and Run as Administrator
  4. Type
    Code:
    SFC /scannow
Full tutorial here:
Check your hard drive(s) for errors by running chkdsk
Number down items at start-up. Keep only your anti-virus, this also improves the time for logging into windows.
Perform a clean install of the NVIDIA drivers in this method:
Sometimes drivers remain, not completely uninstalled. Follow this tutorial for complete removal of drivers of the particular program:
Install this version of the driver:

Good luck and keep us posted of the results.
