Solved BSOD driver power state failure

A couple days ago I did a force shutdown while my computer was mid shutdown, corrupting some windows files (I thought I smelt my computer burning so did a panic shutdown, but it was something else burning)

initially windows would not boot from my ssd, it would go all black with green artifacts on the screen just before the welcome screen, but I still had another windows install on my old HDD so I just booted from that without issue. I then ran the windows repair from install disc and it fixed the windows install on my SSD.

Since then, however; when I leave my computer unattended for a while I get a BSOD on returning with the driver state failure message. I'm not sure if this is occurring on sleep/hibernation or on reboot from the windows update I was trying to do.

update: did a reboot, no issue. Tried to put the computer to sleep, another BSOD.

Hi Strini.

First of all, make it sure that the SSD is running with the latest firmware.

Also update the BIOS to version F10b dated 2012/08/31 (not to the latest one) if possible. The newer BIOS and SSD firmware is most needed to run a SSD properly.

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
2. It will open the "computer management" window.
3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.

Install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only.

• Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
  • 3D Vision Control Driver
  • 3D Vision Driver
  • Graphics Driver
  • HD Audio Driver
  • PhysX
  • nvidia Update
  (Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
• Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
• Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
  
  

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

ok, so.

-firmware already up to date

-upgraded bios to f9. I tried to do f10 but the only downloads on gigabyte site were 32 bit and my computer wouldn't let me use them. I temporarily installed @BIOS to allow it to auto update and it only took me to f9. Looking at their product page my board is listed twice, once for rev 1.0 and another for rev 1.x. The 1.x rev doesn't have f10 listed under it's bios updates at all, so maybe my board is a 1.x and doesnt support f10?

-I uninstalled rapid storage, but when I went to remove the driver the only intel item i saw was "Intel(R) 6 series/c200 series chipset family 6 port SATA AHCI controller - 1C02" I wasn't sure if this was from rapid storage so I left it..

-Nvidia drivers cleaned and installed the version you linked.

-mem test had no errors

I manually put my computer to sleep and didn't get a blue screen, but I got some odd behaviors after doing the above steps. For one it started asking me which HDD to boot from which it never used to, I fixed that but then some of my windows settings were changed (for example my no gui boot option had become unchecked, and my windows makes a noise when it starts up when it didn't before) Not sure if anything important has changed yet though.

I'll leave my computer on overnight this time and see if it has bsod overnight like it did before.

That means that the storage driver is changed. It happens in such a situation.

About the noise, I am not very sure wherefrom it is coming what causing it.
