there is nothing on the hard drives as I have had the problem since I finished building it - I will do small dumps now- I have tried system install with a clean official windows 7 but it didn't fix the problem as soon as drivers go on it starts again

the only consistent crash is trying to install the chipset driver it crashes at the same point everytime - about 5 seconds into the install

What PSU do you have, Manufacturer and model and size? What about graphics card problems? The crashing on installing Chipset drivers is very concerning. The chipset is built into the Motherboard and a part of it.

Didn't you say you couldn't get into bios any more? No graphics?

NOPE, Dont think so - as far as I can tell the graphics card is fine and I have not had a problem with it, I tried running without the graphics card and it still crashed

On my Asus board it is in the main tab and you should have sub menus for temps and powers. It is in your bios somewhere though.

Also, as far as the size and manufacturer of the PSU, open the case and there should be the manufacturer's name and model # on the PSU and a large sticker on the side which will tell you the total wattage and the amps on the +12V. Some will have more than 1 +12V.

Yes took it out but the drivers where still installed would that matter?

I found something in BIOS might be of interest under tools - asus EZ Flash 2 > AI NET 2 ,, it has "check Realtek LAN cable [disabled] , but I carnt enable it probably until I diasable something else

Maybe, but probably not as long as the drivers were installed for the on board graphics. And Windows update would have installed them if there were none.

ARRR I just went to check updates and it wasn't on Auto and there are 172 available downloading now, I could swear I checked that- do you think this might be a cause

You set the profiles, I am pretty sure. They are usually for you saving your bios settings for things like overclocking.

I am really curious to see the voltage readings on the PSU. The most respected PSU site I know, does not like it at all. It actually blew up while he was testing it. He says most 350W PSUs will put out more power. Read it for yourself. Allied AL-D500EXP 500W power supply review Review

That does not mean that is your problem, but could very well contribute to it. According to AnandTech a well respected site, your card can pull as much as 332W under full load. AnandTech | AMD?s Radeon HD 5830: A Filler Card at the Wrong Price

I am still not saying that is the cause of the problems you are having. But, it very well may be at least a contributor and if the reviews are correct, most likely will be at some point.

See if you can run this. it will take quite a few hours, but it needs to run for 8 full passes or until you get an error. If you get even 1 error, you can stop the test. You will know if it gets errors, as it will tell you and will show red lines at the bottom of the screen also. Just push escape to stop the test. If you have a USB thumb drive, I would download version 4.20 pre configured USB installer. Then you have to boot into the USB drive, not into Windows. The test will start on it's own and run until you stop it.

Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask​

Partially at least. But we still have the problem of corrupted system files. Once they are installed, see how it does. Once they are completely installed, click check for updates and install them, then keep doing that until it says there are no more. Especially the Important and recommended ones.
