BSOD during shutdown

Hello,

I am having trouble with my brand new HP Dv7 laptop. Whenever I try to shutdown the computer it takes forever and then it BSOD and restarts. I found a microsoft hotfix for this particular error and it actually helped once but then I did a fresh install of Win 7 to fix another problem. After that the hotfix didn't work to resolve the same issue. Please help!

This crash way probably caused by hpdskflt.sys (some sort of security sensor). I cant find much data on it, so wondered if you know what it is.

Thank you for looking into it for me. I found that the file is for "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor". Im not really sure what it is for. Is it safe to uninstall?

It's safe to uninstall, yes.

Some laptops have a sensor that senses when the machine is dropped, and shuts down the hard drive to prevent data loss.

Uninstalling that may disable the feature, but I'd say go ahead and do it anyway. Better that than BSODs.

Thank you for the advice. I uninstalled the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor. The computer shutdown properly and then restarted without fault. Once windows finished loading it reinstalled the the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor. After that everything worked great! Thank you for your help!

Well the problem didn't go away. I uninstalled the driver and the computer shutdown properly a few times but then the issue returned. How can I permanently disable the "HP Mobile Data Protection" feature? I have attached my most recent minidump.

You still have a corrupted HP device driver. Try looking in C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\ for hpdskflt.sys, and delete it.

I deleted the file as suggested but I still got the BSOD on shutdown. Then on startup I got a quick BSOD then the computer went into repair mode. I am going to open a trouble ticket with HP since this is their product. Thank you for all you help!
