Solved BSOD error 0x00000007E while doing normal tasks

Hi, I randomly started having these errors the other day while watching a video on youtube/playing a game on Steam where my computer would slow down and then freeze, and eventually go to the blue screen described above.

I've googled it a bit but not much has helped and i've checked my system multiple times for viruses/rootkits etc but these errors keep happening.

Also of mention, the eventviewer doesn't seem (to me) to record anything happening around the time of the crash, and despite having minidumps turned on, it doesn't seem to be producing any error logs that I can find (so i've taken to getting photos of the BSOD), although i'm not sure what the Diagnostics tool picked up.

I'm not completely sure but could it be the hard drive? I've also had the F4 error, and i'm using a SSD as my main drive and when Windows restarts it sometimes cannot find it and tells me to reboot and select a boot drive, and i've switched out the cables and checked the connections to the motherboard and they all seem fine, yet it still crashes afterwards.

I've uploaded a BSOD file that I got with the diagnostics tool to see if that works for anyone to help me, as well as pictures of the latest two BSOD I got.

other notes: I updated my BIOS about 2 months ago and upon checking back, it's still up to date.
I've also ran sfc /scannow 3-4 times and it has come back clean with no problems.

Is the firmware for your SSD up-to-date?

Check for one and see if the stability returns.

Number down items at start-up. Keep only your anti-virus, this also improves the time for logging into windows.

This software is a known cause of BSOD's. The windows 7 operating system does not require these registry cleaning software. They often tune-down rather than tune-up and can wreck the OS beyond repair. Microsoft have improved Windows 7 significantly and it is much better at organising and optimising itself than its predecessors. Check this, this and this thread for evidence.

If you feel the need to use a registry cleaning or optimisation software, most of us recommend the use of CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download but make sure you back up the registry before making letting ccleaner delete anything.

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

Do this test overnight, before going to bed.

I have attempted to configure the system to collect small memory dumps, yet it doesn't seem to be printing them upon crash, would I have to use/download Option 2 in that list?

I have removed VIPRE, what was the problem with that software however?
I have downloaded MSE and Malwarebytes was already installed, the quick scan with MSE came back clean, i'll run a full one later.

I have ran a scan with both Malwarebytes and TDSSKiller both in safe mode and they have come back clean, although TDSSKiller found 5 objects yesterday when I ran it, i'm assuming they were fixed.

I have uninstalled Advanced system care, I didn't even know I installed it on this computer, or cannot remember using it.

I have performed chkdsk and sfc scannow and they have both come back clean previously, i'll retry them.

I've attempted to update the firmware on my SSD, this could be the problem as I don't ever remember updating it previously. Woops, although upon trying to update the firmware, it comes up with a "no eligible SSDs were found" line, so i'm not sure if it completed or not.

SpyBot is uninstalled now.

Will update this thread with results of the scans and another few disk checks.

on another note, I attempted to open itunes and the icon wasn't available and when it opened it froze my computer without a BSOD. Odd. Also after trying to repair the itunes installation it seems to stop halfway and the install wizard closes, i'm not sure if this is related to anything however.

OK i've done everything that was suggested above except for the memtest, which i'll do later tonight.
SFC /scannow and chkdsk reported no problems
TDSSKiller reported no problems
MSE and Malwarebytes reported no problems
I have ran CCcleaner


few problems however:

Updating firmware on my SSD seemed to fail, it said it could not find any eligible SSDs and the command timed out.

When booted into safe mode, I ran the ESET virus scanner, it came back with 9 problems, 8 of which were fixed, BUT I could not close the window or check what the last one was because everything had frozen except for my mouse for some reason, I was unable to use my keyboard and nothing was clickable, the heck?

I am unable to shutdown and install windows updates, it doesn't seem to install them while it's shutting down, it seems to try to and then give up halfway and shutdown and then ask me to update again.

I got the following BSOD while originally running the ESET scanner (before I started it in safe mode) and I also added another Diagnostic report if that helps!

Thanks for your suggestions by the way, I really appreciate the help! I just wish my computer would start working properly again :/

EDIT: just got the second error (one on the right) directly after opening AMD Catalyst Control Center, although prior to that the system seemed stable for about 2 hours. Is that a thing?

We have come across various antivirus and internet securities causing problems on Win 7 and from a BSOD perspective MSE is the perfect AV for Windows.

There are no dmp files so it's hard to say anything but I am familiar with the two bugchecks on the images. I'm certain that they both relate to your hard drive.

I am requesting a friend to help you with Firmware update on your SSD before you need to RMA.

Hmmm OK, well I have switched over several cables with my SSD to get the system to register my hard drive as eligible and was able to update the firmware very late last night , i'm trying the computer today and seeing if it works.

I read on Crucial's site that there was an issue with the early M4 models that could cause BSODs and that was fixed with an update, i'm HOPING that was the issue, i'll get back to you if something else happens though, thank you for all your help!

Do you know what firmware you have now?
I also assume you are in AHCI mode, which SSDs usually run in. If the firmware fails again, you may have to boot into bios and change the sata mode to IDE. If you do that there is the possibility your system will not boot. If it does not boot, don't be alarmed, it is expected. Just be sure to read the instructions carefully. They work well. I used it and updated my 3 crucial SSDs in about 5 minutes, it was completely painless. Crucial advises to back up your data such as your documents, pictures and music. The update is not supposed to be destructive (meaning it should not harm your OS or personal files) but, sometimes things do happen. So, back it up, just in case. If you have any problems, just let us know.
