Solved BSOD error 0x00000101

Hello all. Been awhile since I have been on the forum, but I had a Blue Screen of Death last night, and can't say I have ever had in the past on this computer

I had mirc running, and watching Divx, and a browser open I believe. I also use Adtrap and had it enabled.

Filename in question was ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+cca4a fffff800`04260000 fffff800`04845000 0x005e5000 0x521ea035

EDIT: it says its for windows xp but generally speaking the steps should be the same for windows 7 if im not mistaken

Hey thanks for replying, but I don't think thats my issue

Seeing the error file name was ntoskrnl.exe, I had thought of that too, but I think its more a CPU clock problem, as the BSOD said something similar about clock. I should have wrote it down.

I remember doing like in the link you posted when I can't boot into Windows 7 etc, but I have no problem booting into windows. This is like a rare one time BSOD so far.

This pc is about 4 yrs old now.

EDIT: Seeing its only happened once, I wont worry about it for now. If it keeps happening, I will take note of what it says for future reference.

Hello again

It is happened a second time, with similar error codes

I can't say what it showed on BSOD because my monitor was black when I came back to the error. I had to reboot and run the dump file

Will continue to watch and keep reporting.

Running malwarebytes etc as well.

0x101, unfortunately this bug check code doesn't contain enough
information in the minidump file be analyzed fully.

Please upload the Kernel dump file using Dropbox or Skydrive, the file is located in the Windows directory
and is usually a few hundred Megabytes in size.

C:\Windows\MEMORY.dmp

What I can see from the dumps is Norton being quite active, as well as a graphic card configuration
that I find it hard to believe that you gain much benefit from.
Try to remove Norton for troubleshooting purposes along with your GT220.
Using the GTX550Ti and MSE for the time being.

Also remove TuneUp utilites as those type of software only cause more harm than good.

I have so far removed the one Video card. I got a 4th BSOD which I actually got a screenshot of

I have updated Norton to latest , haven't uninstalled yet. Am uploading the memory.dmp to dropbox now, but will add link in morning.

Report back later with more info.

I see sptd.sys and XBOX controller causing some issues.
Please remove the following, disconnect the controller and stop using it for a while and see how
the system holds up.

• Uninstall DAEMON Tools Lite from the Add/Remove Programs. | rb: → then type appwiz.cpl and press the Enter key. After the reboot follow the quote below to verify its removal.

Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite

Download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

• Double click to open it.
• Click this button only:
• 
• If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

It won't hurt to roll back to known stable release of the nVidia driver as well.
Please follow this detailed quote and roll-back the driver to a known stable release.

Install the 314.22 WHQL only.

• Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
  • 3D Vision Control Driver
  • 3D Vision Driver
  • Graphics Driver
  • HD Audio Driver
  • PhysX
  • nvidia Update
  (Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
• Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
• Boot normally now. Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Ok I actually use Alcohol 120% is where sptd.sys comes into play. I have removed my Xbox Controller as well.

Going to do just one thing at a time and see how the system runs. I will post back or Mark Solved when all is good.

Oops! That is a part of a template I use when needed and forgot to change it .
