Solved BSOD error 0x00000f4

I am getting the BSOD error 0x00000f4. I have tried several of the recommendations posted in the forum to fix BSOD issues and CHKDSK freezes every time at around 19%. I have done the sfc /scannow several times with no issues detected My hard drive always seems to make a funny sound right before the BSOD happens so I have purchased a new hard drive but have not installed it yet. The BSOD happens all the time, sometimes after 2-5 min of surfing the net or when I try to burn a dvd and sometimes after hours of surfing the net but it seems to happen faster and faster than before. The BSOD does not happen in safe mode with networking as I downloaded Img Burn so that I could burn some important files to a dvd before replacing the hard drive. I wanted to make sure that this is the problem before I install it. I have attached an SF Diagnostics zip file as per the forum rules. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have also had error messages that read like this.
exporer.exe Application error. The instructions at 0x682C5D38 returned memory at 0x628C5D38. The required data was not [placed into memory because of an I/O error.

Yes, your hard drive is dying, as there's a physical issue with the motor or head of the drive. That's what's making that sound. The error message pertaining to I/O problems and the crashdumps also point to that. 0xF4 crashes are almost always due to hardware failure relating to drive I/O, and your case certainly does not appear to be an exception. Backup anything you can on the old drive then remove it and start using the new one.

Replacing the hard drive did the trick, no more BSOD

Thanks but now whenever the computer goes into sleep mode and comes out of it after a couple of minutes windows freezes completely, ctrl, alt, del won't even work and I have to shut the computer down and restart it. Any advise?

What is the new drive? Sounds like some hardware is locking things up.

I replaced the hard drive with a 750gb 5400rpm drive, it had a 250gb 5400 drive
