Has started happening since Sunday. Computer is over 2 years old and has been working perfectly since. Many gaming sessions done in this time with 0 problems
I bought Monster Hunter World and have been playing it a lot since it's release on Friday. On Sunday, I had my first BSOD reboot ever and now it's happening very regularly. I can reproduce it about 60% of the time as soon as I start FurMark. No more than a second after starting the test. In game, sometimes it happens quickly, sometimes I can game for 45 mins. Not lasted more than 45 mins or so since it started happening. I think once it happened on desktop, but it doesn't normally. Mostly it happens just when entering a 3D session, such as FurMark, or just entering a game. E.g. getting past loading screens, as soon as you get a full 3D scene, boom restart with BSOD error code 124. Tried prime95 for about 10 mins it was fine. I have 3 RAM stcks, tried them all one by one and error happens with all 3. Tried another PCI-E power cable that my PSU has no difference.
Nothing on the system has changed in between Friday and Sunday other than installing the game. I did windows updates but that was on Friday before installing the game.
Possible my CPU was running very hot in these sessions, this game get's it hotter than normal and we have also had warm weather recently. This is about all I can say. The only thing out of the ordinary regarding the system was the suspected warm temps. Maybe the CPU was consistently on around 65c+. GPU tends to sit on 70-75c under load.
Note: I have replaced the motherboard and upgraded the cooling. Has not made any difference.
