That is difficult to say, but I would think that if you would do nothing in some months your hard drive may become unbootable.
It is difficult to say, because it is for everyone different. For one it is a week before the drive is unbootable, others can go maybe a year before the hard drive becomes unbootable.

hey when BSOD occurs its showing Kernel data inpage error . I recently observed does that mean anything?

Its meaning depends on what the second parameter is.

I'll clear a few things up about the meaning of the parameter
If the parameter is either of the following (excluding the F's), it usually means that a I/O error has occured.

• 0xC000000E,
• 0xC000009C,
• 0xC000009D,
• 0xC0000185

An I/O error is caused by certain things, for example

• 0xC000009C > A bad block on the hard drive usually
• 0xC000009D > A bad or loose cable or the disk is not detected by the controller, check the BIOS to see if the disk is present in case of the controller issue
• 0xC0000185 > A bad cable or 2 devices that are trying to use the same IRQ
• 0xC000016A > A bad block on the hard drive

As it is a 0xC0000185 with a Dell laptop, the IRQ issue can be ruled out because a Dell laptop has not enough options in the BIOS to configure IRQ's.

So i still need to change the hard drive, is that what you are saying? Or is there a way we can work with this? I heard that we can separate those bad sectors and we can leave them unused and we can still have a healthy hard disk

In your situation bad sectors isn't the issue. It is the hard drive itself that is failing, a short drive self test failing says that a hard drive is failing.

hey guys, sorry to bother you again. I bought a new hard disk as you suggested but I just got a blue screen error same as the previous one. so is the new hard disk is failing too?

More likely is it that the cable would be bad, or the connection with the cable is improper.
