Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 on my HP Pavilion laptop. It BSODs every 10 minutes and most of my programs/virus software etc are not compatible. I just want to get rid of it and go back to Vista.
However, I can't reinstall Vista over the top because it crashes before it gets a chance to install.
Is there a way I can 'wipe' my computer to have no OS then install Vista?
I really need it up and working again as I have assignments piling up :(
Thanks in advance!

Just follow the tutorial in the link below which shows you how to use the diskpart commands to rezero your drive. In my experiance with this the "clean" command is required to get rid of the partitions and the "clean all" command rezero's the drive.

Just follow the article chev65 That will help you wipe the whole hard drive.

So I've been googling furiously and is this what I'm tryig to do?
Rezero the drive - blank the hard drive? Then put in the Vista disk, turn it on and it will reboot from the disk?
What's a partition?

I don't know if you can tell, but I'm not very experienced in installing OS ;)

Let me explain you as good as I can.

1. First step is we have to wipe Windows 7 from your Hard drive. Using this guide http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html you'll be able to wipe the Hard drive completely.

2. Then you'll perform a clean install for Vista. Follow this guide for instructions. Clean Install with a Full Version of Vista - Vista Forums

3. Partition is just a portion of hard drive i.e. C drive, D drive etc. Basically you could wipe just the C Drive partition and install Vista in that partition.

Hope this helps,
Captain

Thanks heaps
I will try that once I get a Vista disk
When I bought my laptop it came with Vista already installed so I didn't get a disk. Will I have to buy it?
