Hello,

I put my HP 8540p to sleep every night and always come back to a BSOD "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". I have run all Windows Updates, HP Updates, and antivirus scans. My troubleshooting skills do not go any further than this. I have followed the instructions for BSOD postings, and the output zip folder is attached.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks!

This is really weird  both those files are corrupted so I will start by this:

What antivirus software do you use? And how many do you have installed right now?

I was not able to save the .nfo file as you described. I had to search for it, copy and paste to a folder, then zip. I did an export of the .txt file and I assume that worked correctly.

I am only running Microsoft Security Essentials and everything is up to date. My last scan was yesterday.

The failing component belongs to Nortel Network. And that is very old .... really very old.

Thanks for the input. That's actually a driver related to VPN software that I installed a while ago that was very problematic. I guess the problems go deeper than I thought. I have uninstalled the VPN and will report back tomorrow whether the BSOD persists.

OK, let us know the situation. And, after uninstalling the program, search for the driver (.sys) file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers and\or C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers. If it is there, delete it.

I uninstalled the VPN software and have not had the issue yet. I would say we can call this one resolved. Thanks!
