Solved BSOD going into Sleep win7 64bit with irql_not_less_or_equal

Hello all, new member on the forum and I've pretty much torn all my hair out trying to investigate this problem.

Title is accurate representation of the problem I've had for a few weeks now. (until I updated stuff - more on that later)

My win7 64bit installation is somewhat new. Only around 2 months old. The PC itself is around 2 years old. I don't recall adding anything new to it prior to the BSOD manifesting, except a bluetooth adapter but that I've already removed and I'm still getting the problem. All told, prior to 2 weeks ago, I haven't a problem with the machine at all.

Background over, main problem is as described in title. Unfortunately, it's NOT always repeatable. Prior to me posting my problem, I've tried a few things. I've updated my BIOS to the latest version and checked my memory with memtest. I've also updated my graphics driver from AMD.

I thought problem was over but alas, its changed a little bit, but still very similar. Now, instead of getting a BSOD, the machine freezes on a black screen, again in the process of going into sleep. Restarting the machine will give me the message that windows did not shut down properly.

Any help would be very very much appreciated folks.

I've uploaded the SF tool report as per instructions. If there is any other data I can add to help, just tell me and I'll try my best to provide!

All crashdumps are pretty unanimous, with them being about your MotionJoy Xbox360 Controller driver. I've seen this thing cause problems for a number of people with Windows 7. The driver is dated from May 12, 2012, so try and see if there's an update for it. Otherwise, I'm afraid you may have to forgo using it. You'll want to check their forums, but from what I've seen from it previously, it looks pretty barren and they don't seem to update often.

Oh, didn't quite realize it could be that. Come to think of it, the timing is suspicious. But off the top of my head, I was using motion in joy before my problems started... but can't be certain. I'll be uninstalling the thing and observing it.

Well, I've put the machine to sleep several dozen times, and I haven't come across the BSOD or the blank screen yet. Darn, I was really impressed with the functionality of the motioninjoy thing. Shame it was causing me grief!

Yes, it's a bummer, and I'm personally unaware of any alternatives. You can try looking up any, but for now it seems they're just behind the times on their drivers and they aren't a very active community taking care of it (their forums are riddled with spam ads).
