I have carried out your suggestion. Chkdsk did not show up anything but the Seatools gave me a fail on my primary disk. Does that mean the disk needs to be replaced asap?

I can't offer anything else new, but I would suggest you do your best to back up important information now. I still think it's a drive issue. If that's the case the drive could be dying, I would back up what I could right now just to be safe, before I even continued troubleshooting.

Magus is correct. If Seagate reports errors with the HDD. Then back up your Data or create the system image and then replace the HDD.

Thanks for your help. The drive is only 3 months old (Samsung Spinpoint F3) which is irritating as I thought they were excellent drives. I have to get another one in order to send this one back! Can you guys recommend any particular make / model type that you feel is reliable, quiet and fast.

It doesn't really mean it's good or bad. Tech parts fail sometimes. I've had really nice high end stuff die really quick, and dirt cheap parts seem to last forever. It's one of those nature of the beast things...

Hi,

Despite the new drive, I have started getting BSODs regularly again. Though the two that happened this morning, despite reporting that a dump had been written, there were no dumps in the minidump folder.

Where do I go from here? Should I do a clean install?

I've had another couple of times where BSOD says it's written a dump but then I can't find anything in Mindump folder. However, one has been written again.

Driver Verifier

I tried to use Driver Verifier and after enabling it, my system would crash each time I started it. This is the minidump from that.

Ho hum.

I tried to use wndbg but had a symbols issue I could not get over, despite using a command to load from the microsoft symbols server.

Just for your information, I have matched all my memory to be exactly the same manufacturer and I have not had a BSOD since doing this a few days ago.
